Dapper Dan results

Post by Manfred »

USA 22, Pa. 18. Cody Law loses, 20-8. The kid that beat him, Isaiah Martinez, 3-time California state champ, is going to Illinois. They may meet again in the next 4 years. I don't have any other results, sorry.

Some truly great matches at the Dapper Dan this year. I was surprised with Law's match. Law is strong on his feet and his opponent put on a take down clinic. Team PA lost because of a bad call. Cruz had the take down at the end of the match. Cruz hooked the cradle and Tomasello's hips were on the mat and still the official did not give Cruz the 2 points at the end of the match. Even more upsetting was the official that blow the call was laughing about it as he was walking of the mat.

I was just talking about that. Tomasello had his hand on cruzs' leg but no where near any kind of definition of around it... there is no way to justify not giving that take down.. There were several other instances that those two looked confused and out of position....NCAA refs need to be used in these type of matches....Biggest thing I got from that meet was that the flo and intermat rankings mean squat, the lower ranked guy won more matchups than they lost...BTW the putz commenting on the Flo broadcast said " 1 guy in America called Austin Matthews winning his match" ...I believe there was more than just me...haha where do they get these guys?

Yeah, I did not think he looked out of shape he just got out wrestled. I was more impressed with Solomon and Cruz. I was a little surprised with Retherford's match. I thought he controlled the match and was never really in any danger. I guess I expected a little more out of Ashnault since he went 170-0 in his high school career. I can see Penn State having a real nice 1-2-3 punch at the bottom of the line up. I guess the real question is do you red shirt Retherford next year like they did Gulibon this year?
