Toughest weight classes in the SW region?
Re: Toughest weight classes in the SW region?
The first step to getting cured is admission...kudos to you fellas.
You guys put to much emphasis on rankings. For instance I suppose 182 was the toughest d5 weight class? It had 3 ranked guys in the top 20? Berkley, Buttry, Connor. No offense but I think it was pretty much a one horse race with a question mark on the #3 spot.
When I'm evaluating a tough weight class I looking at
1- how competitive the weight class is.
2- how many guys could place at States.
3-the actual talent in the pool. Another for instance: I think any of the 145 top 3 d5 placers could have won most of the other weight classes. Looking at talent. Ranked or not 11 of the 14 in the sw reg are studs.

1) you could put 14 .500 wrestlers in a weight class and it would be competitive.
2) has 1 definite place winner. Nobody sure other then Nolf.
3) it is a deep weight I agree. Nolf is a stud!!! Oliver will be, but he is a freshman needs to show it the next 2 weeks. I don't classify any of the others as "studs" To me that is someone who has a state medal or has at least been to and one a match at the state level.
It is a tough weight. It is a deep weight. I'm not ready to so it is clearly the toughest in the region. But it definitely is going to have 1 or 2 state caliber wrestlers not advance.

Heavyweight is not the toughest weight class and it never will be. You have a couple studs and that's it, every now and then you get a guy with a good motor like buttry, that's it. No offense to anyone thatsjust how it is.
