PIAA approves 20 wrestler brackets at states

20 person bracket is for 2 years then reevaluated.

"coach" @ the D6 website posted the regional allocations:

AA
NE- 4
SE- 6
NW- 4
SW- 6

AAA
NE-4
SE-5
NW-3
SC-4
SW-4

SE will receive 5th qualifier in 2015 and SC will receive 5th qualifier in 2016.

I then looked at some numbers and posted this:

As I calculate (caveat that my numbers might not be accurate) the AA SW region would have 79 out of 237 total schools = 33.33% of squads, times 20 qualifiers = 6.66 which normally would round to 7 qualifiers. My calculation is that SW AA has 65 out of 237 total schools = 27.43% of squads times 20 qualifiers = 5.49 which normally would round to 5.

In pure data terms:

NE region 48/237 * 20 = 4.05
NW region 45/237 * 20 = 3.80
SW region 79/237 * 20 = 6.66
SE region 65/237 * 20 = 5.49

So far it looks like adding 1 to each AA region was done to make certain people happy, deviating from the proportionality method that the PIAA has historically done.

If anybody has more accurate numbers or an explanation please add more to this post.
