Re: Regionals Question?
There isn't near as much seating at Canon-Mac as there was at the War Memorial.
Re: Regionals Question?
I for one won't be attending, so my seat will be available. Like the local " " said this morning, kids from Penns Valley will have at least 3 1/2 hr. one way trip to C-Mac. From almost any school on the Ohio border, it's only a 2 or 2 1/2 hr. ride to the CC War Memorial. Hey, get your Disney on Ice tix now! Gonna be a sellout!
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: Regionals Question?
I was kind of looking forward to seeing regionals at IUP. I think the Kovalchick Convention Center would have been a nice venue. As an IUP Alum I was secretly hoping that maybe by getting a wrestling event at IUP, it would help push the school into realizing how big of an interest wrestling is in the state of PA. I have always been amazed that IUP, being of of the largest PA owned universities hasn't had a wrestling team for a long time, especially since they are located in an area with such great wrestling tradition.

Re: Regionals Question?
per the press release, wrestling is to begin @ 5 pm on Friday the 27th.
Then 10 am Saturday.
Press release discusses seeding and 2 byes, though only 1 bye this year as D6 gets 5 spots - D5 still gets 3, D7 still gets 7. Seems sloppy to include that in the press release, though the schedule is built for 15 wrestlers per weight.
The tournament schedule does not show 7th/8th place matches. With top 6 going to Hershey, a procedure will need to be developed for determining next in line if a top6 placefinisher doesn't go to Hershey. In a similar situation last year D6 wrestled for 5th and 6th, even though only the top 4 went to regionals.

Re: Regionals Question?
1) PIAA AAA NW Regionals have been held at the Altoona Field House for years.Chiefwapum wrote:
...It also seems to be a bit of a shame for these kids to bust their humps all year to make it to the regional show(Where many kids will wrestle their last match of their lives) and have it end in just another high school gym. Great job PIAA you have once again proved how inadequate you truly are. I wonder if the Donkeys made a deal with a headgear company and made every wrestler wear the brand of their pick would wrestling then get a little attention. Might be an idea for the donkeys. They could grease their pockets some more and the wrestlers might get a little consideration.
Can someone post an email where one could send complaints into Donkey Headquarters?
2) Some contact information for you, I don't have the PIAA bigwig emails, those these guys would and might be the appropriate people to email.
