Altoona sports
Was at D6 wrestling this weekend. they do a good job on organizing the tourney but 2 things stand out. (1) Kid at 220 is allowed to move up to 285 for districts, resulting in a decent sophomore (whose brother was a standout) not wrestling in districts, though he was the 285 all season. The 220 kid was suspended from school for a few weeks, and has had previous behavior issues on the mat. Great example you set there Coach.... and (2) word is that the AD for Altoona is going to take over the football coaching position since "no good candidates" have come forward. Rumor was this was the plan all along as he has a son coming up through the program. So, they promote a kid with a negative background and allow an AD to advertise for a job he wanted all along. Glad I don't live there....

Yeah because It's not like there Isn't an alternative choice of another school In that area for your male kid to attend who has been a little bit successful In football and other sports In the past few years...….footballmadness wrote: Glad I don't live there....

Well IMO, BG is successful due to a smart, open minded athletic director and coaches. Altoona is bogged down with a negative mentality. Kids hated Franco, hated Felus, favoritism to some athletes....Maybe kids are moving to BG for that reason vs "recruiting".

Altoona's high school enrollment is 1778. How easy is it to pick a starting five or eleven? If you're moving for high school sports, your kid had better be great Juniata College is about $58,000 a year.

It is funny that all this comes back to the person in charge of athletics at Altoona yet he is still there. Wonder why? I have heard what footballmadness said earlier, about him making it look like no one wants the Altoona job so he can step in. I also heard if that doesn’t work he will hire one of his “buddies” from the last staff as the head coach so he can then coach with him. The shady workings of Altoona! Gotta love it!

Yep. It starts at the top and works its way down. And with a school of that size, they should not be mediocre in the major sports. But when kids say they are not playing sports due to the politics of the school that says it all...

Re: Altoona sports
What’s it matter? A kid is either smart or dumb. It doesn’t where he or she attends high school. At least someone on this website said that before.knowitall wrote:How are the academics at Altoona?
