Re: D6 Sports network idea <light bulb>
Peyton you are so RIGHT. I was told the same thing about who OW is. I agree. If our sources are correct I would be ashamed if I was around sports in her capacity and get on a message board and criticize officials like she has done.
Ow, to you. You are correct!! It east to become a PIAA official. That has been my point all along. If it so easy to become one and YOU are such the expert in telling who is good and who is not. Then SHUT your mouth about criticizing them and do it YOURSELF. That is what I have been telling you. You said it is easy money, no qualifications, and you are already an expert in sports, so what is stopping you?? Your other job??

Re: D6 Sports network idea <light bulb>
neither of us said you were a sportswriter.........
Dadw/2sons said "involved in sports" and "other job" but never specifically said what they were.....you said that yourself.
being invoved in sports w/ ur other job can be anything:
trainer
atheltic director
coach
school administrator
official (but you made it perfectly clear that is not you)
so the evidence that my buddies have presented to me, then coupled w/ the evidence you proveded by yourself makes me think that maybe......

I would like you to search "cory isenberg all stars" click on the topic (thread). Many times you refer to yourself in the 1st person. Not sayin'...just sayin'...

Seriously, that's who you think I am?
I guess I need to start prefacing comments with a sarcasm alert when necessary.

Re: D6 Sports network idea <light bulb>
So we're gonna set up a K-Zone cam for D-5/6 umpires? What is it going to solve? Are the umpires going to review the tape and adjust their srtick zone according? Brilliant idea...
Just a tidbit. Let's say an umpire gets $50 a game umpiring. Let's take out $15 for mileage. Let's take out another $10 for their equipment, yearly PIAA dues, and transportation to PIAA meetings. Let's take out another $8 for dinner since most of these guys leave directly from work to make the games on time. That leaves $17 dollars. Also a lot of umpires do report their income for taxes whether you think so or not so for these people lets take another $4 dollars off. So they are being paid $13 for their services....maybe if anything the schools need to realize that you get what you pay for.

Re: D6 Sports network idea <light bulb>
If I make 40 K / yr., that is not all free and clear money. Everyone pays taxes ?? and has expenses out the wazoo, food, mortgage, car payment, loans, etc., just as you have mentioned for those umpires. That doesn't mean I get to keep all of my 40 K, now, does it? That argument just doesn't hold much water. Try again, for that 50 bucks.
It ain't over until it's over.

The NFL's replacement-referee saga sure is making a lot of folks see this issue in a whole new light, ins't it??? No matter the game, it is much faster the higher you progress. Those who can't handle it the pace shouldn't be doing the officiating/umpiring.
Re: D6 Sports network idea <light bulb>
Guys settle down let's face it umpiring is a job that (a) is extremely hard and (b) there are umpires out there that some are notably good and some notably bad
