American Legion Baseball

Any thoughts on how this years field will shape up. Who will be the teams to beat?

Pending final rosters, it sounds like former Turnpike teams (Claysburg, Somerset, Bedford) will dominate. Very little pitching leaguewide as best 18-19 kids go to play AAABA in Alto or Jtwn (although I heard several Claysburg kids left AAABA this year to go back and play Legion. If that's true, it's probably lights out.) Ebensburg and Patton decent in the North but no pitching. Conemaugh would have been down anyway but with Chance Osborne leaving to coach Colt League I have to think they'll be way down. Portage may be a darkhorse. St. Michael should be improved but still a shadow of their good teams. Meyersdale will be much improved in South but I doubt enough to contend. For what it's worth, that's off the top of my head.

According to the league website, Spangler dropped out, too. Wow. I think that leaves 13 teams.
I know what happened with Cernic's, but I wonder what's going on in Spangler. NC was good this year, right?

If you play the Saints this year, you'd better walk both Gdula's , Colin and Justin, every time up. 3 HR's apiece in the first 2 games. Wins over Richland and Stoystown. And this year, they have a little more pitching than they had last year.

I read that the Holby kid from Blacklick is playing legion. He was 5-5 with a homer, triple and three singles. Was that the first game he played in?

Guess no one from Lilly reads this stuff. The Gdula boys each homered last eve in a 15-3 / 5 inn. mercy.
