Jay Sox coach needs banned, total embarrassment!

Post by PipersPit »

I happened to stop by the park today to watch a few games, and while i was talking with a friend, he explained to me that the coach from the Jaysox was suspended one game. As i turned to my left i asked my friend who the load guy was on the hillside? He explained to me that it was the suspended coach. Then i'm wondering why would he be allowed to attend the game? I thought the game went great and the umpiring was exellent, however this suspended coach continued to harrass the umpires throughout the game. For myself i know that those two umpires that called the game are "top-of-line" in the city, you won't get any better. So what seemed to be the problem? After further review, the Jaysox were close to winning, and when the game tightens up, idiots grasp for straws. I hope this coach gets evaluated, banned and taught a lesson. The city of Johnstown doesn't need this trash especially when the league is in a rebuilding stage.

I have watch city baseball for 30 years, and to see and hear what i heard tonight, just makes me sick! To all the other coaches in the Colt League, keep up the good work and don't stoop to this moron's level!

Although I wasnt there to witness the events of this game, I will say this about the JaySox coaches.

We should not sit here and put down a group of young men who give up their time to coach baseball . . . for free. Remember this is not a school function and none of the coaches, including those of the AAABA are paid. With that said, these coaches helped saved the Colt League from extinction. Obviously these coaches have somewhat of a passion for the game, who hope to reach young men, and provide structure to teenage kids. These coaches stepped to the plate less than a month before the season started and put together a team. For months numerous people were asked to coach a Colt team so the league would not fold and for months the response was "No". You have people out there that know the game of baseball very well, but refuse to coach unless money is offered. Seriously other than a few ERA instructors, how many of them actually coach in a league that is volunteer. I would be cautious to cast a stone at a coach who stepped up to save a league, rather than say no thanks because it pays a lot of money. Coaches like C. Long should really consider the volunteer option rather than the paycheck option. I am sorry giving back shouldnt include a paycheck!

I was surprised to see him there, I thought suspended meant you can't even be there.

I talked to some coaches from the league. The rule is that your not permitted to coach in that game, no rules in regards to attending. If he was a problem from the crowd, the umpires should have removed him from the park.

From what i saw from the hillside and heard from some of the people in the crowd, the coaches WHO coached that game did better without him in the dugout. It was a close game and to me, the kids seemed to be relaxed and having fun. Good job to the assistants!

In regards to the one post, i agree that this team MIGHT of saved the Colt League, however the coaches who coached that game without their head coach did a fantastic job! He should really consider stepping down and letting them finish out the season. Then the sponsor can do his homework and find a canidate who has coaching experience and knows how to deal with adversity.

Like I said in my previous post, other coaches with experience refuse to coach for free and volunteer their time. I know for a fact that numerous coaches were asked and basically replied no money, no thanks!

I was not at the game either.

But from what I hear and have noticed, is that there are a lot of young coaches within the Colt league this year. On one team especially, I believe, if memory serves me right, the Clippers? If I am not mistaken, they are ahead of the Jay Sox and are in 4th place? I attended one of the games when the Breakers played the Clippers, and I was not disappointed. Both teams played very hard and it was en exciting game from start to finish, but I believe the Breakers edged them at the very end of the game.
