Martella's drops their opener 2-1 in a snoozefest at Point Stadium.  I think I counted two hard hit balls in the 7 plus innings I lasted.
Martella's protested the game after Baltimore took a 2-1 lead in the 8th.  Does anyone know why?  Or was it just the case where at least one genius from a Johnstown entry must make an **** of himself at each tournament?
Youngstown tomorrow at 7.
One big problem I see is there aren't many places to go in town following the games.  The Sheetz in Kernville should make a killing this week.

Just read on Twitter. Protest was upheld and game will resume at 9AM tomorrow with score tied 1-1 heading into the 9th. Red bat was indeed ruled to be illegal.

If I was Baltimore we would be packing up and leaving town.  If the bat was illegal it shouldn't have been allowed to be used from the get go.  What a joke.

You can't make a ruling on a bat until it's used. I'd say Cooper and staff were not sharp enough to pick it up until after 8 innings played. This young 2nd year Baltimore team, players and coaches, likely weren't aware of every little rule and corollary regarding 'color of a bat'. The color wasn't what was beating Martella's. Lack of performance and execution of plays was.

Another sad chapter in the history of what was at one time a good tournament

Any insight as to why a red bat is illegal? Just curious as to how color offers a competitive advantage. Perhaps the RED Devils could channel this advantage some how.
