Yes, both in Sidman.  Now that graduations have mostly ended, and a weeks worth of rainouts to get in, it's going to be games almost every day.  Back to back DH's Sat. & Sun. Saints vs Bedford,  Ebensburg.  8 games in 6 days beginning today, and all at home.  Yowza!

At least legion is playing. The city league once again is having problems getting umpires. Multiple games postponed this year because of no umps. In addition to the rainouts, most city teams are lucky to get in a game week - ridiculous!!!

By city league, are you referencing the Johnstown Collegiate (AAABA) league. There's only 4 teams, so 2 games unless DH, on a given day/ night. Coax Willis out of retirement. He'd be just as good now as he was then.

Sorry I was referring to city colt/pony leagues. A friend's son plays down there and the last several years they have had problems with getting umpires resulting in many postponed games. He said it is very frustrating to lose a game on a good weather night when they already have the bad weather postponements.

That's a shame, that never happened a few years ago.  The Colt league was better than the Legion league for a few years.  The powers that be in Johnstown baseball screwed up with the age groups a few years ago. Expanding AAABA is killing the quality of the tournament, you aren't getting much division one talent from out of town teams since they are going to different tournaments.  It should go back to 17-20.  Colt should be 15-16.  Pony should be 13-14. It was working before.

Is there an umpire shortage or is there an abundance of idiots coaching in the league and no one wants to umpire its games?

Why would you umpire?  There is nothing better than having 14 year olds and their families yelling about balls and strikes.

I have been to a few of these games & the umpires were a non-factor. These are rec leagues and are far more civilized than high school ball. I personally think it is great that so many teens are out playing baseball again as opposed to sitting on the rears all day in front of a video game screen or phone or worse.

Bingo! While it does seem like umps are overly sensitive these days, coaches, parents, and even players behaving badly is the main reason why there are no umps. Plus, anything the city runs is going to turn into poo sooner or later.
