Luckily, or timely, the Pens played a team more inept than them last night.
It ain't over until it's over.

Tonight just might be one of the most important games of the season: they are in a bad way, scoring few and far between, playing awful on the PP, and just not playing good hockey. They play a team that's arguably the best in the west, but this team has lost 3 in a row and is playing equally as dismal as the pens. Could be a, lack for a better term, confidence booster. 1. Because St. Louis is flat out good, to beat them anytime is an achievement and 2. On the other end of the spectrum the pens should find solace in knowing that a team as good as themselves is struggling too.

It might be, in a weird way, a playoff like atmosphere.

Saw somewhere today "we (the Pittsburgh Penguins) can survive when we have just Malkin and not Crosby, but we can't survive when we (again the Pittsburgh Penguins) have just crosby but not Malkin"

First of all, I don't know about you guys but saying "we" when referencing a team is brash and really annoying. Second, that's a pretty broad statement, "we" are also without Patric Hornqvist, Pascal Dupuis, olli Maata and (again) Christian Ehrhoff. I argue all of those players are of great importance to the pens goals for the future, but that's just my opinion.

Somehow, even without Malkin, crosby has moved into a tie for the first place in points though, even with playing 6 fewer games with the person he's tied with. I guess Crosby just needs Malkin to succeed though.

Pittsburgh has the most pessimistic fan base in the league, think of the revolving-door-like comments that accompany fleury. I don't even pay attention to them anymore.

Ward is like a sleeping giant. Can't deny that the guy is still pretty talented.

I'm not pessimistic, I'm realistic. The Pens aren't very good.

I was just answering your comment about pens fans being pessimistic. I see no reason why anyone could be optimistic right now. They aren't even a lock to make the playoffs right now. After their start that's pretty embarrassing.
