Why couldn't Pitt have "Navorroed" Fields onto the team?
The more I think about Pitt vs. Utah's spread last week, the more I think that the best way to defend most versions of the spread is with athletic hybrid linebackers/safeties like Elijah Fields. I think not having Fields in the lineup is really hurting Pitt's secondary. This is especially true if Wanny insists on employing PItt's base defense. Pitt has shown flashes of success in defending the spread the past few seasons, but athletic hybrids like Fields make it happen. WIth Elijah at safety, Pitt wins at Utah, without question.
Gruder, DiCiccio, Thomas, and Taglianetti aren't even in the same universe as Fields in terms of talent and athleticism. Mason is a fantastic athlete, but plays far too wrecklessly and has no idea what he is doing in pass coverage vs. WRs in terms of technique, angles, etc. Fields has NFL athleticism and talent and I would not be at all surprised to see him playing in the NFL, if he's able to latch on at some cesspool like IUP or CalU or even Penn State.
Now, Elijah Fields was a pot smoking fool and got what he deserved...
BUT, with that said, why couldn't Wanny have pulled a Paterno and exercised a little depth chart justice and "Navorroed" Elijah onto the team?
So what if Fields was caught with pot in his system once and posted some ill-advised pics on his twitter account? Elijah was never charged with anything. Meanwhile, Navorro was arrested, charged, and sentenced TWICE with no repercussions other than a few extra gassers after practice. Elijah merely failed a university mandated random drug test and posted some pics of his parties, pot, and dolla billz on his twitter account. At this point, I don't care about integrity, I don't care if we have a list of criminals twice as long as PSU's (although it may take 20 years to accumulate a list like that). If it's good enough for Penn State, the place where college football (and depth chart justice) were invented, it should certainly be good enough for Pitt. Given past practice, Paterno certainly would have kept Elijah on the team if he was a starter. It's all about winning and the dollars that BCS games bring in, baby. After all, nobody got hurt, right?

Pitt also would have faired better if they had Jamaal Sheard on their team, but he couldn't play because he threw some guy through a Glass door then disobeyed Police Officers as he continued to pummel the guys bloody pulp...errrr wait.
Elijah "Marajuana" Fields did more that just do drugs. He also made a nice little money selling them.

Prove it, Kirk. He's never been convicted of anything. Try to let some twitter pics stand up in court, Mr. Attorney. You'll be eaten alive for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and breakfast again by even the most incompetent lawyer.
Navorro and the other 50+ convicted over the past 8 years and still permitted to play on the team, based on where they were placed on the depth chart, on the other hand have no excuses...
What the heck...Fields did his time, he was suspended by the university for an academic year for failing the random drug test. A twitter account with some ill advised pictures??? He was never even arrested or charged with anything. Please. Joe would've made Fields TEAM CAPTAIN like he did with Sciorotto. You know it and I know it.
I say start the Grand Experiment at Pitt, complete with Depth Chart Justice. If it's good enough for PSU and Paterno, it should be good enough for Pitt, right?
Bring Back Elijah!

I think there's been more than a few nice little cover ups by the Pitt Panthers over the years.
Why would yuou want Fields back now? Your season is over. This was the year Pitt was to go 14-0 even though they haven't lost less than 3 games in a year in 30 years. Long live DRAW PLAY WANNY

Cover ups? That's funny, and something PSU should know all about and something they did so well through the Centre Paterno Times until about a decade ago when media just exploded and they couldn't hide things anymore.
Seriously now, You don't think the Blue and White crew at the Post Gazette like Cook and Smizik would be exposing problems at Pitt every chance they got? That's the personal mission of the PGH media, to glorify minutae like Penn State's "big win" over Youngstown State and keep Pitt off the front page unless there are problems or criticisms. Cover ups at Pitt??? You can't possibly be serious.

Speaking of Exposing, Cook wrote a pretty nice article about the Big East this past weekend. It pretty much sums up what everyone in the country outside of the 75,000 combined fans in Pittsburgh, Louisville, Morgantown, Syracuse, South Florida, connecticut, New Jersey, and Cincy think

I hate to state the obvious but usually there isn't much of a reason to put Pitt on the front page.
In Related news, Blacklick Valley fans wonder why Terry Wertz does not cover their games.
Turkeyfoot Valley also ticked.

Of course Cook wrote an anti-Pitt/anti-BE article...He breathes, eats, drinks, sleeps, and craps Paterno and Penn State...Oops, no pun intended using "craps" and "Paterno" in the same sentence.

Your idiot head coach got out-coached. Pitt played sloppy. How many penalties? Perhaps they couldn't handle the pressure of playing before a noisy crowd? Or perhaps Utah just has Pitt's number? Rejoice however, for Pitt can still win the Big East, and in doing so, Pitt fans can still get free BCS bowl tickets from Giant Eagle.

Beano Cook has called Paterno an underachiever for years!
Fields problems werent just weed, Titan, and you know that. The kid has character issues, and did in high school as well. They took a chance on Fields, and they lost. It happens.
