AFC quarterbacks that have played in the Super Bowl since 2004... Only one of them is not named Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger!

2004- Brady
2005- Brady
2006- Roethlisberger
2007- Manning
2008- Brady
2009- Roethlisberger
2010- Manning
2011- Roethlisberger
2012- Brady
2013- Flacco
2014- Manning
2015- Brady
2016- Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, (or Alex Smith)

Unless the Chiefs make the Super Bowl 12 of the last 13 quarterbacks will have been Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger.

While they can't do it alone, takes the whole team, it IS the key ingredient. Example: If Ben doesn't play Sunday, Steelers lose. If Ben plays, even injured, they have a chance. He brings more to that position than just athletic ability (Landry Jones is athletic), experience, familiarity w/ the Offense, familiarity w/ Denver Defense, leadership, and....toughness.

Interesting that of the 8 QB's left - 6 are first rounders and the others are Super Bowl winners, Russell Wilson and Tom Brady.

Lets see. 5 of the 8 qbs left have won a superbowl. Of those 5, 4 have been to multiple superbowls. Of those 4 only 2 have won multiple superbowls.

6 first rounders with i believe 4 being #1 overall picks? (Newton, smith, manning and palmer.)

This is the best field of 8 i think we have seen in a long time in the nfl

On the flip side the QBs for the NFC reps during that same time span have been all over the map....

Jake Delhomme
Donovan McNabb
Matt Hasselbeck
Rex Grossman
Eli Manning x2
Kurt Warner
Drew Brees
Aaron Rodgers
Colin Kaepernick
Russell Wilson x2

Newton and Palmer could be new additions to this list.

Looking at this is very interesting. I would say that having a top QB does make a difference. But i would still say about 9)% of these teams won because of their defense. Brady and Ben both won Super Bowls early in their career because of defense. Manning finally got a SB win when they had a good run game but their defense stepped up in the playoffs and played above their head. To me I think you need both to win the Super Bowl or have a magical seaon from one aspect of the game ex. Baltimore with an amazing defense.

Honestly it will be interesting 10-15 years from now when a lot of these qbs are HOF eligible. Who gets in, who doesnt. Tough list
