College football playoff megathread

Watching the Big Game right now it feels pretty clear who the top 4 will end up being.

1. Bama
2. Mich
3. Clemson
4. Washington (or ohio state)

I cant see a way mich doesnt get in if they win this game. If they end up winning theyll have 4 wins over top 10 teams. Even if they end up with 2 losses they are clearly top 4

Well im happy to redact that. When i first posted mich was 1 yard away from making this a 3 score game. Bad turnovers lead ohio state to a win.

1. Bama
2. Ohio state
3. Mich
4. Clemson

The rest shouldnt matter

I don't see Michigan staying there. They now need more help then Penn State to make it to the playoffs.

And in your previous post you have Clemson 4 and then say the rest shouldn't matter. Your next post somehow has Washington jumping them?

Well i didnt see louisville losing again. That really hurts clemsons resume. If FSU loses too idk.

Not to mention wash lost to USC, who is on a roll, while clemson lost to unranked pitt.

Just more thinking throughout the day

I love that people say USC is on a roll....they have 3 losses still. I know most posters on here are so anti penn state that they CANT admit they are on a more impressive roll.

Im not saying USC is on a better role or is better than penn state. Im just saying in comparing wins and loses from clemson to washington, washington won out.

Im not anti penn state. Im pretty pro penn state but im also a realist.

I'm also a realist, with that being said I believe PSU has a very good chance to get in with a win next week.

Thats not realistic though.... they need help to get in. They cant jump over ohio state, their resume is too strong, and a 1 loss conference champion will still be ranked higher.

Penn state would of had a great shot had they not lost to pitt earlier this season.

Let's go back to 1982, when there were no CFP rankings. At season's end, Georgia was ranked #1 with an 11-0 record. The only other undefeated team was SMU, with a record of 10-0-1. They had a 17-17 tie against Arkansas, and were the Southwest Conference champs for the second year in a row. Penn State was 10-1, having been beat up 42-21 by Alabama in October, which had a down year at 8-4. Georgia had a commitment to the Sugar Bowl as the Sec champ, SMU to the Cotton Bowl as the SWC champ. Georgia lost to PSU 27-23. SMU beat Pitt by 4, with Dan Marino as their QB. Even though SMU ended up as the ONLY undefeated team in college football (and the SWC was a tough conference), PSU was given the National Championship. So be PREPARED for any scenario in the final four this year, as MEN will decide those final 4 participating teams.
