And you wouldn't have to give up an usher to get him.
but you would have to deal with the fact that Phillips is a Bucco. I've hated him for too long. More than Arietta or Gomez
I wasn't suggesting the Pirates sign Phillips!  I was suggesting that a team that was thinking of trading for Harrison could sign Phillips instead.  The Pirates have the great Sean Rodriguez to play 2B or perhaps Bryan Bixler.

I just don't see them signing free agents of significance AFTER they traded people.  The point of a rebuild is to see what you have with the younger guys, I think.  If they wanted to invest in the current team, they just would have held onto Cole and Cutch.  I'd guess Adam Frazier would get the first crack at second base.

My anticipated everyday lineup would probably be.... (assuming Harrison and Cervelli are traded).
1. Frazier 2B
2. Marte CF
3. Bell 1B
4. Polanco RF
5. Moran 3B
6. Luplow LF
7. Diaz  C
8. Mercer SS
Bench
Freese
Rodriguez
Osuna
backup catcher
Moroff

I'd imagine Meadows will be getting the LF job by June, and Kevin Newman will have a chance to takeover at second base.

You could probably package Cervelli and Harrison for a pack of hot dogs and some stale buns.

Beer ought to be what $12 or $13 this year for a 10 oz can of crappy Coors? Might be able to get some sweet new jerseys with the extra cash.

I have no problem with the fire sale. But got a problem with the returns they are getting. Hard to rebuild when you are getting junk back, and if you're building through the draft that just doesn't happen over night. Trade Mercer, Cervelli, and J-Hay but dammit get something decent.

Yea they should be getting better returns.  The trades we've seen in recent years, other teams are getting better returns.  If they turned away the Frazier/Adams Yankees deal for what they got for Houston, everyone should be fired.

I'm not sure any team is going to give them anything of value for Harrison, Cervelli, or Mercer.  It would be more about getting rid of them so they can shed payroll.  I mean evaluate young talent.

The pack of hot dog buns had almost as many home runs as Cervelli did this past season.
