With nevada and san jose state being added to va tech the 2020 PSU OOC schedule is complete. 

Sad to see pitt gone and two baby teams added.

Hopefully it'll resume again down the line, the past 2 years have been a lot of fun.


Pitt is bringing back the Backyard Brawl soon, which should also be fun.

PSU and Pitt is fun, I agree. I am also looking forward to the VT and Auburn matchups.

Baby teams is right. Nevada was 3-9 this past year, San JOSE St was 2-11. Maybe they will get better in the next 3 years.

Moldy you do realize pitt was the worst team psu played this year right? From the ooc record wise.

I went to Happy Valley to take in the Pitt-PSU game and had a blast. My friends and I that are split between alliances kind of made a pact to enjoy these next two seasons because we knew that would be it. It's fun, but just not what it used to be sadly. There's a whole generational section that WVU was the more fierce rivalry anyway... especially when you look at peak Big East days because it was both football and basketball.

I think everyone knew this wasn't going to be a long term deal.  The only way the series can become permanent is if Pitt was willing to make more trips to Happy Valley than Penn State was going to make to the North Shore.  I know it doesn't sound fair and may even come off as arrogant but it is the elephant in the room.  Penn State is not going to go to Heinz field more than 2 or 3 times a decade.  Temple and Penn State have worked out several deals over the past few decades that resulted in 2 to1 or even 3 to 1 trade offs in favor of Penn State.  When Penn State is a mega college football powerhouse program that is selling 100,000+ tickets to every game, then they aren't going to make very many trips to pro-stadiums that only see fans in the upper deck when they (or Notre Dame) come to town. 
Additionally, Pitt fans are hilarious with their mocking of Penn State's schedule.  Pitt played 1-11 Rice last year but Penn State gets ridiculed for playing a 6-5 Georgia State team.  Pitt did play Oklahoma State, which I give them a lot of credit for.  But they also only play 8 conference games in which the best 3 teams in the ACC perennially were not included (Louisville, Clemson, and Florida State).  At the end of the year, what has hurt Penn State's scheduling is not the App State's or Georgia State's or Akron's.  Every power team in the country (except USC which I always will say plays the by far toughest schedule) plays 2 or 3 dawgs.  What has hurt Penn State's strength of schedule from the selection committee is actually Pitt.  That game needs to be a perennially top 25 program.  Thankfully the upcoming series against WVU, VT, and Auburn will fit that bill. 

Finally, I don't need to see Penn State play Pitt every year.  If it were up to me, the game can leave the schedule and come back every 10-15 years on a 2 game schedule.  Ideally, I would have loved to see the B1G take Pitt as their 14th program over Rutgers but that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.  That was the only hope traditionalist would have had to see this series every year. 



The only time in the long term that I really see Pitt being an option for Penn State is the years that they play Wisconsin as the cross-over.  Like the next 2 years.  I don't think at the end of the next 2 seasons anyone is going to question Penn State's schedule which will include Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin.  That is the year it is ok to have a mid-tier power 5 opponent. 

I just hope they do a 2 or 4 game series once a decade.  Don’t let it go stale and not play it for 15 years, but it probably can’t be played every year.  Pitt has the Backyard Brawl on the horizon, a series with Tennessee, and Notre Dame’s agreement with the ACC has them coming in and out a lot over the years.  

I personally think Pitt over schedules on the non-conference slate, so I’d prefer not to play 2 power five teams in a given season like they have been.  There’s zero benefit to it really.  

As long as one of the following...Penn State, Notre Dame, or WVU is on the schedule, Pitt fans will be content.  

GoldenRamsFan: Love your "records" theory. By YOUR theory, UCF should have ended the college football season ranked HIGHER than PSU, since they had a better record. Why don't we compare Pitt's strength of schedule to that of Ga State and Akron? There are 254 Division I college football teams. Pitt's strength of schedule this past year was 28th. Compare this to Akron at 85th and Georgia State at 141st. Heck, Pitt's was higher that PSU's at 38th. How can anyone compare team's records when there is such a discrepancy in their SOS's? Nice try though.

I get a kick out of those that are saying PSU is replacing Pitt with Nevada and San Jose St.
