Pirates vs. Cardinals April 27-29

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

Friday - 7:05 p.m.  - Steven Brault (2-1 4.44) vs. Miles Mikolas (3-0 3.46)
Saturday - 7:05 p.m. - Trevor Williams (3-1 2.15) vs. Jack Flaherty (0-0 1.80)
Sunday - 1:35 p.m. - TBD vs. Luke Weaver (2-1 4.85)

The Pirates don't have a listed starter on Sunday, mainly due to the double header yesterday.  To keep everyone on normal rest, they'll call up someone for that start on Sunday.

The assumption has been Nick Kingham, the Pirates #13 prospect. He's 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in AAA Indy to this point. He's 26 years old, and was probably set to be in Pittsburgh by now, but injuries have slowed him down.  So he'll be making his major league debut on Sunday if that's what actually happens.

That was my thought, but Kingham was scratched from his start in Indy this weekend, so people are connecting the dots there.

Would have been helpful had they made this decision a few months ago. Kang is quite possibly the best hitter on the team, so he'd help, no doubt about it.

But he won't be ready until after the All-Star break more than likely.

Kang obviously isn't a very good person, so I think people will have mixed feelings.

After the all star break?  Spring training is six weeks long or so and most players says that’s too long.

He hasn’t really seen major league pitching since 2016. I’m guessing they are going to take it slow with him.

The guy's 30 and has been playing other forms of ball right? fast track him on the sober route.

I'm thinking Memorial Day at the latest.  That gives Colin Moran another month to prove himself

We’ll see. Moran has played fairly well to this point. Whenever Kang comes back, it could be a platoon.
