Lebron James: Great player but terrible leader

Today there was a video posted that showed the cavs bench after regulation ended in game 1. Sadly it shows us why leadership is a vastly underrated thing...

Lebron went to the bench and refused to interact with his teammates/coach. He sat quiet until he asked Coach Lue if they had a timeout, because lebron thought they didnt have one. When he finds out they did he flips out like a 5 year old... Today when asked about it he ends the question with this answer, [font=Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif]"I don't care. I don't care at all (about the criticism)," James said. "We're in the NBA Finals. I mean, how much more picking up of teammates do you want me to do?". [/font]
[font=Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif]While he has a solid point its time we all admit the biggest flaw lebron has, horrible leadership traits. He probably is the most talented player in NBA history but because of immaturity and horrible leadership skills, where he wants to be a leader, his legacy will be tarnished forever. If we saw any of our local HS players act like this we would be livid, James shouldnt get a pass on that[/font]

Unfortunately lebron puts a lot of this on himself....

Got a coach fired who had a .700 win %. Fought to get TT, JR Smith and Love. Left cleveland to form a superteam in miami, which on paper should be better than this warriors team, and just has poor body language.


He would do best with a strong leader/strong coach while lowering his ego too. He is the best player in the world, but not leader. If he let someone help lead a team he is on there would be no debate if he is the best ever.

I agree with you here. I believe he’s moving on after this season for sure. If he’s looking for rings. I think Houston would be another Miami for him. Two veteran players closer to his play in Harden and Paul. I don’t see him going to Philly or LA to lead those young players. If he’s looking to beat Kareem’s scoring record. He might as well stay put and score 40 a night in Cleveland.

Lebrons best move, if possible IMO, would be going to San Antonio. Pop and him with leonard would do amazing things with each other. Pop is that leader who would compliment lebron the most

Leonard is a wuss . He played what 20 games last year.  Soft!!!

Leadership is not a requirement for great players.  It's not unusual for great players to not be great leaders.  I thought Mario Lemieux was a great hockey player.  He was also the worst coach the Penguins ever had.

The amount of hate for the greatest basketball player of all-time is unbelievable.  Especially one who does so much for his community and others.

I agree great players do not need to be great leaders, unfortunately Lebron forces himself to try and be one.


Lebron is NOT the greatest player of all time. Most talented, i can agree, but a player is more than just talented. The greatest player of all time doesnt go to OT in the NBA finals and score 0 points.


And its not hate... Like i said if you saw a player at any level act the way he has this series and in the past everyone would be unloading on that player.

And right now Jordan is the goat, but when lebron retires and has almost every nba record, their is no way people can say he isn’t the goat. And he leads by the way he plays!!!
