Adversity
Adversity
Anyone else tired of hearing this word in sports? According to the dictionary, adversity is a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress. Just read an article this morning about hoping that PSU fans and players will "remain unified through this adversity" of losing two games in a row. WHERE'S THE ADVERSITY!! Losing two games is NOT adversity. Just ask Rice University. Having your QB break his leg in the first quarter? Now THAT'S adversity. Playing without some starters due to academics? THAT'S an unlucky situation for a team. Having your head coach miss the first 3 games of the season? Now THAT'S a difficult circumstance. But losing 2 games in a row is not adversity, especially when you can't blame the losses on some unfortunate event or circumstance. Let's get off the adversity kick.

Re: Adversity
They choose to throw from the 2, won’t use a fullback, and Qb takes snap 7 yds deep on goal line.... is that handicap or adversity?
Re: Adversity
It's neither. That's poor game management. They PLAN to do that. Go back to the drawing board.

Re: Adversity
Adversity is very often overused in sports, or used in the wrong context at least.
Re: Adversity
This thread could've just said. I don't like Penn State. It was a sad weekend for Western PA in college football. We needed Pitt to knock off Notre Dame...then after that WVU and PSU decided the heck with it.
