This is the year the Washington Nationals with Cy Young winner Max Scherzer and Rookie of the Year Victor Robles win the World Series. They beat Bryce Harper in the NLCS and the New York Yankees and AL MVP Aaron Judge in six games.

The Pirates go 76-86. Jung Ho Kang is in rehab by Memorial Day. Jameson Taillon spends half the year on the DL. Chris Archer continues on his career path and goes 11-16 with an ERA of 4.74. I think Corey Dickerson rediscovers his power stroke and hits 26 HRs and 277. The Pirates attendance drops by another 250,000.

This is going to be a long year.  I’m reminded of the movie Major League....”JB Shuck, Erik Gonzalez, Melky Cabrera, who are these F-ing guys...Nick Burdi???”  And yes I know Melky was a stud.....6 years ago!!!!

The funny thing is Bob and Neal trying to sell that they think they can compete for the playoffs running this lineup out.  It’s comical.

The lineup today stunk, but in fairness three of their four best outfielders weren't available today.

CG, I always respect your post bc you’re educated and not over opinionated. That being said, you can’t honestly think they can compete with the offensive lineup they have to offer, even with Marte and Polanco in there. This is what is frustrating about the Pirates. In order for them to win, 10 different hypothetical scenarios have to play out perfectly. There’s no margin for error. With this pitching staff, why would they not make a run at a middle of the order bat (aka, Goldschmidt or Donaldson or a trade for someone)? Why couldn’t they stretch the bank just once? This year was worth the risk with the taking on the mound. I would argue they downgraded offensively at 2B, SS, and RF. 3B is yet to be seen. The bench is worse and Josh Bell is regressing badly. You can’t win without scoring runs, period!

They have a better chance of competing with Marte and Polanco than the two guys that started today haha.

I think the Pirates will won somewhere between 77-83 games, which won’t be enough for the playoffs.
