Looks like Altoona and SC are pretty strong. Kenney in 100. Nadolsky held his own in the 100 also, but isn't he a 400 runner? Endress as a soph in the 800 looks strong. For this early in the season, Brooker pu up a pretty impressive time in the 1600.

I know it's early in the season, but looking at the times of the duals in the trib., it appears that our area isn't that strong in T&f.

Depends on which side of the mountain you look at crossover(johnstown side or bedford county side) as to how strong the athletes will be.Central cambria should still have alot of quality ladies in the 800 and 3200 relay. Two great returning female jumpers in bedford county in crawford and harris also good hurdlers in crawford and windbers' snyder. Dunchak from NC should be solid (2 time state champ high jumper) as well as the Rocco girl I believe from the same school, and doesn't forest hills have a good female distance runner back(sorry can't remember the name).Richland should have a good lady high jumper back(sorry no name again).Bedford county boys should have a good crop of jumpers returning ,one of them may turn the corner this year. District 6 AA boys was off a little last year, but it's early and I'm sure there are some diamonds in the rough.Just have to wait and see.Altoona is a phenominal team (indoor and outdoor state champs) and I wouldn't look for them to falter unless someone gets hurt!I'm sure I'm missing quite a few names and I apoligize as I am doing this off the top of my head.I'm sure everyone will help fill in the blanks! Almost forgot the Gehret boy from altoona really impressed me, sub 11sec 100, sub 22sec 200(meet record) and a 22' 4in long jump this early WOW! Of course he has to out do his sister who was a stud in track also.lol

Yea, I forgot to mention the Gehret kid. Is he only a junior?

The girl from FH is Wirfel and she's only a soph. Took 2nd or 3rd at XC states. Look for her to knock off some of the records set by Carly Seymour.

Calsie Boyd is the Richland girl jumper. Already over 5' 3" in the high, and right around 36' in the triple.

On Tuesday I saw an excellent throwing performance from Robert Shehan (McConnelsburg), 47' in the shot and 132' in the discus. He then followed that up on Thursday by going over 48' in the shot, and 145' in the discus at Shade (I know the discus is downhill, and the further you throw the steeper it gets). All good numbers for this early in the season.

Aaron Nadolsky (Altoona Area HS) received a 40% athletic scholarship to run indoor and outdoor track at Penn State. He has run 10.8 for 100m, 21.5 for 200m (PIAA 3A runner-up last year at 200m), and :48.4 for 400m. He has split low-:47.xx on a 4x400 relay.

I would love to see him unleash that speed over 800m...

Besides his track accomplishments, he is an excellent citizen and student.

Gehret is only a junior I believe and was impressive again over the weekend as was the rest of the altoona boys. From bedford meet saw Boyd from richland beat Dunchak from NC in the high jump with a very impressive 5'6" height.Too bad harris was hurt and didn't compete, you may have seen 3 of the 4 top placers for this years state meet if she had.Rocco had a solid meet as did wirfel although I think she has a ways to go to catch seymor, but I hope she does.On the boys side I was impressed with the richland boys(somiari) 44'4" triple jump, thats state medal caliber jumping especially if he can improve in a month and a half.I too would be curious if nadolsky ran the 800 ,if he had enough gas to get him around I don't think he would be outkicked.I honestly believe if you are a pretty good sprinter you would be better served to move up to 400 and 800 meters. If you train right the speed would be a tremendous edge!

Ah USATF, always a good question. Who has the advantage? The faster runner moving up in distance or the distance runner moving down in distance? Right now I've noticed that the coach at Baldwin is having TJ Hobart running the 3200 and not even running the 1600. Hobart is probably the best miler in the state and has enough speed to compete for the gold in both the 400 and the 800. It'll be interesting how this strategy plays out.

At Bedford, I was impressed with Engle pulling off what I believe to be the toughest triple in T&F. That is frist place in the 800, 1600 and the 3200! That's a lot of laps.

Bedford lost to Tyrone? What happened there?

D6 girls will be interesting in the HJ.

It appears tyrone is loaded in the jumps and pretty solid in the throws.Throw ingle into the mix and that is a very solid recipe for winning.Yes that is alot of laps and alot of stamina ,I think he's gonna have to pick come districts though, but right now thats a stellar workout.I think the speed thing works to about the 800 level,Donaldson(tussey) did it the last 2 years and faired pretty well.I think Nadolsky is alot faster than Donaldson was so maybe it would work for him too.

I don't know if I totally agree with the 800 being the cutoff.

If a runner is running a 1:57 in the 8, what could he do in the 16?

On the other hand, if a runner is running 4:15 in the 16, what could he do in the 8?

I think that it comes down to the individuals physical make-up. I guess also the VO and all that fancy stuff. I don't coach T&F.
