District Six AA

1. Richland 3-0. Next Game: @ Johnstown – Richland has yet to have a team come within four touchdowns on the season. The offense has been magnificent, and they seem to have no trouble putting the ball in the endzone. Friday against Johnstown should be their most difficult challenge yet, and they need to respect the Trojans’ play makers. Of course, you can see that game live on the D6 Sports Network.

2. Central 2-1. Next Game: @ Penns Valley – Central was not able to beat a very good Clearfield team, but I see no reason to lower their ranking. The Dragons have an excellent offense that can typically score at will. They have plenty of winnable games ahead.

3. Tyrone 2-1. Next Game: Philipsburg-Osceola – Tyrone responded with a solid win over Huntingdon this past weekend, after falling to Clearfield two weeks ago. The James Oliver led offense is one of the best. Philipsburg is down a bit this season, but Tyrone still needs to be cautious going on the road.

4. Ligonier Valley 3-0. Next Game: Marion Center – The Rams passed one of their first major tests on the season with a come from behind win over Blairsville. Ligonier has plenty of big games ahead, but should be able to take down Marion Center this week.

5. Bald Eagle Area 3-0. Next Game: @ Chestnut Ridge – After making the playoffs last season, the 3-0 mark can not be discredited. The Bald Eagles have a very difficult schedule ahead with Central. Clearfield, Tyrone, and Ligonier all looming in the coming weeks. We will certainly find out if they are for real.

District Six A

1. Bellwood-Antis 2-1. Next Game: @ Juniata Valley – Bellwood easily took care of West Branch last week, but should see much more resistance on Friday. Juniata Valley is a tough team with a good offense. The game should be a must see, with plenty of scoring. Bellwood needs to be on high alert.

2. Homer Center 3-0. Next Game: Purchase Line – The Wildcats have been rather dominant so far, only surrendering 8 points per game. Homer should be able to handle Purchase Line at home, but the schedule will start to get difficult after that with Blairsville, Ligonier, Penns Manor, and Portage still remaining.

3. Penns Manor 3-0. Next Game: United – The Comets have been rolling early on, and they should keep it going for at least two more weeks as they get United and then Marion Center at home. Obviously some people had their doubt coming into the season, but Penns Manor has erased a good bit of those so far.

4.Portage 2-1. Next Game: @ Meyersdale – Portage had a big win last week and got back on the right track, but they need to aware this week. The Mustangs are traveling to an undefeated Meyersdale team that has been very impressive in the early part of the season.

5. Bishop Carroll 2-1. Next Game: Penn Cambria – Bishop Carroll went into Sidman and shut out the Rangers, and that is a very difficult task. The Huskies have not been great offensively, but the defense will keep them around a good bit this season. The LHAC schedule always prepares you well for the playoffs, so I expect BC to be a factor down the line.

D 5-6-9 AAA Sub region

1. Clearfield 3-0. Next Game: Huntingdon – Clearfield went to Roaring Spring, and walked away with a two touchdown victory. The rematch with Central was supposed to be a tight contest, but Clearfield ultimately took control in the second half. Huntingdon is improved, but hard to see them taking down Clearfield this week.

2. Somerset 3-0. Next Game: Westmont – Somerset went into the Point Stadium and came away with over McCort. The Golden Eagles’ defense has been stellar this season, and it is one of their main area of improvement. Somerset lost to Westmont last year, so they need to be ready to come to play. I get the sense that Somerset is better this time around, and will not falter in games they should win.

3. Johnstown 2-1. Next Game: Richland – Johnstown handled Westmont on the road, a place where they have struggled in the past. The Trojans have a huge opportunity for a statement this week as they get to host Richland. Johnstown has an offense that can score with the Rams, but will they have the ability to make the stops?
