District Six AA

1. Richland. 6-0. Next Game: @ Westmont – Richland survived quite a battle from an excellent Somerset team last week. The Rams executed a two minute drill to come from behind and win the game. it was Richland’s first close game, but they should be better for it. Richland should have little trouble with winless Westmont on Saturday afternoon, but expect some scouts to be in attendance that day.

2. Central 4-2. Next Game: @ Philipsburg-Osecola – I may catch some heat for this one, but the Dragons were not afraid to step out and play a very good Fort Hill team from Cumberland, Maryland last week. It may have resulted in a loss, but I still value this team above Tyrone and Ligonier as it stands now even with two losses.

3. Tyrone. 5-1. Next Game: @ Clearfield – Tyrone battled a good Bald Eagle team, and pitched a shutout to move to 5-1. We will find a lot about the Golden Eagles this week with a road trip to Clearfield. A win here could do wonders for their ranking, and a shot at a Mountain League title. Tyrone has a nice team, but how they perform this week could define their season.

4. Ligonier. 6-0. Next Game: Penns Manor – The Rams have rolled for the most part this season, but a classic battle should take place this weekend. Ligonier and Penns Manor have been the class of the Heritage lately, and both teams will enter the game 6-0. Expect a big buzz in the air and a lot of people crammed into historic Weller Field.

5. Central Cambria. 5-1. Next Game: Bishop Guilfoyle – Central Cambria keeps passing big tests time after time. The Red Devils are riding high with a five game winning streak, but may see their biggest team this weekend. Bishop Guilfoyle is a very good team, and this game should decide the LHAC section I crown.

District Six A

1. Bellwood-Antis. 5-1. Next Game: Southern Huntingdon – After a week one loss, Bellwood has reeled off five straight wins behind a powerful running game. Bellwood should take care of business once again this week.

2. Homer Center. 6-0. Next Game: @ Conemaugh Township – The Wildcats just absolutely have it going on this season. They have been solid through six weeks, and have won every game by at least 21 points. They have a brutal finish to the season, but they need to take care of business this week against Township before they start thinking about those games.

3. Penns Manor. 6-0. Next Game: @ Penns Manor – The Comets took care of preseason favorites Blairsville last week, and they get a big test this week with Ligonier. Penns Manor has battled with Ligonier for conference supremacy the past few seasons, and the game this year will say a lot about who will win the Heritage this season.

4. Portage. 4-1. Next Game: Windber - After a bye week, the ‘Stangs picked up right where they left out. They handled an overmatched Blacklick team, but they should see stiffer competition on Friday. You can see the big Windber-Portage game right here on the D6SN live on Friday night.

5. Bishop Guilfoyle. 4-2. Next Game: @ Central Cambria – The Marauders have won four straight, and will look to keep it rolling this week at Central Cambria. The Red Devils will be a tough match especially on their home turf. Still, it appears BG has found its stride after a rough start to the campaign.

D 5-6-8-9 AAA Sub Region

1. Clearfield. 6-0. Next Game: Tyrone – Clearfield has not seen many tests this season, but they could with Tyrone this Friday. The high powered Bison appear to be a real force, though, and still is the team to beat in AAA.

2. University Prep. 5-0. Next Game: Westinghouse – Prep beat Allderdice 43-14 last week, and they get a 1-5 Westinghouse team this weekend.

3. Somerset. 5-1. Next Game: Bedford – Somerset nearly pulled off a huge upset over Richland last Friday. Still, we learned that Somerset is actually for real, and they have the ability to finish this regular season with 8-9 wins. Bedford poses a challenge, as the Bison are much better than we anticipated also.
