Lets look at history to see if these non power 5 schools really arent up to the quality of power 5 teams in past big bowl games.

1. Utah beats pitt 35-7 in 2005 Fiesta bowl, first non power 5 team to qualify for bcs

2. Boise State beats Oklahoma 41-40 in OT in 2007 Fiesta bowl

3. Georgia beat Hawaii 41-10 in 2008 Sugar Bowl

4. Utah beat Alabama 31-17 in 2009 sugar bowl

5. Boise st beat TCU 17-10 in 2010 fiesta bowl (Both in non power 5 leagues)

6. TCU bear wisconsin 21-19 in 2011 Rose bowl

7. Florida State beat northern illinois 31-10 in 2013 Orange bowl

8. UCF beat baylor 52-42 in 2014 fiesta bowl

9. Boise state beats 38-30 in 2015 fiesta bowl

10. Houston beat Florida state 38-24 in 2015 peach bowl

11. Wisconsin beat Western Michigan 24-16 on 2017 cotton bowl

12. UCF beat Auburn 34-27 in 2018 peach bowl

So non power 5 teams are 9-4(8-3 if you eliminates BSUvsTCU) in the big bowl games theyve gotten into. Why do we assume theyll just be blown out? They win a lot more than they lose in these situations

Valid argument.  My counterpoint would be that usually the "group of 5" team that gets into the NY6 (or the BCS Bowls of the prior system) is placed against the least competitive conference champion or NY6 qualifier.  Look at last year, UCF played the team that the committee deemed to be the 3rd best team in the SEC conference.  The year before Western Michigan played the 4th highest rated B1G team.  Utah played a Pitt team that was 9-3 and at the time Utah was on the cuffs of a PAC12 invite. Florida State in 2015 lost by 40+ points against Louisville and Clemson was the ACC representative in the CFP.  Other than the Pitt vs Utah game, are any of those games pitting a P5 champion against a Group of 5 team?  I think UCF would have been very competitive in most major conferences this year.  I think they would be the 2nd best team in the ACC, 4th best team in the B1G, 3rd best team in the PAC, 4th best team in the Big 12, and 5th best team in the SEC.  That still is a long ways to go to be a team that can compete for a National Title.

Agree with some of your points.

I just dont like thinking in hypoteticals of what a team would place in another league. I am just looking at this notion it would just be a blow out or these teams cant compete.

What harm is there in putting them in? You can always point back at Oklahoma, ohio state and any other one loss team and just say, "you didnt get in because you lost"

I am surprised that all of these non power 5 conferences don’t pull away from the NCAA somehow and create their own playoff or something (I’m not even sure if they can or not). They literally have no change of getting into a 4 team playoff not matter how good they are. It sucks for all of them to get a chance when some of the data shows that they can beat the bigger schools.

Whats ironic with your suggestion IHeartFootball is a few years back there was rumors of all the power 5 conferences and ND leaving the NCAA to form their own league because of restrictions placed on them.

Also they would be able to corner the $$$ market

Yes.  Hence my response.  Or do you think I thought CSM was an FCS school?
