Re: Muddy conditions
In light of our current weather, what are some of the mud bowls you remember? I remember watching FH BM at the Point in 1997, couldn't even tell who the players were because everyone was brown on the field Maybe 96? You may be right. That was the game Matt Danel, our do-it-all QB/ kicker, got hi-lo...

Re: 2018 Pony League baseball
It depends on what kind of Kool-Aid you drink and what gives you satisfaction. Apparently an individual's perspective is based upon whether you want to develop all kids in a league, town, area etc, or just a select few and win as many games as you can. Somerset used to dominate the area at all ...

Re: 2018 Pony League baseball
What so special besides maybe a pickoff move is taught at the Pony League level? It's baseball. Leadoffs at each base (they're not all the same), bunt defenses, cutoffs, double cuts, defending 1st and 3rd, rundowns, base running 1st and 3rd, sac bunts, bunting for hits, squeeze plays, and whatever ...

Re: 2018 Pony League baseball
All years are important for a kid in terms of their "development". But if you want a good league, you spread out the talent. Its just common sense and all kids can benefit. All years are important but they are not all the same. The jump from Little League to PONY league is significant b...

Re: 2018 Pony League baseball
Legion has no lower age limit. Johnstown's competitive issue has always been that the league doesn't have a players draft. Splitting up kids equally leads to a better competitive balance and allows all kids to improve. Simply loading up one team does nothing for those kids in the long run. Except t...

Re: AAABA 2016
I was not aware that Kenny had played in The AAABA league. Do you know who he played for? I have heard he was a good High School player and went on to play in college. I also think with a couple more quality pitchers, OA could make a run next year. Congratulations goes out to Carpenters for earning...

Re: AAABA 2016
I've known Ken since we were teammates in the AAABA League. He's always been a stand up guy.

New Windber MEGA-sports Complex + a bit of irony
The big picture is that the kids are keeping busy in a sport that they love and their families are investing their time and resources into them as well. Guys like Rick and his staff have helped develop and get kids exposure while also improving and giving confidence to kids that may have never even ...
