If Portage does have some good players, this might be a way to get them scouted more. I would think scouts are more likely to go to a 5A playoff game, as compared to a 2A game Nah, more talent lies at the lower classifications in basketball.  Also, most recruiting is done through AAU and off season...

Just look at the numbers since 2008 in larger classifications.  Outside of North All form WPIAL ,Philly Catholic league has dominated.  If not them, then another catholic/private.   LaSalle College, St Joes, Erie Catherdral, Archbishop Wood, Bishop McDevitt, Imhotep have dominated the larger classi...

I don’t disagree but I’d also say the move to 6 classifications is just working. They wanted more Champs and more diversity and that is what we have. The WPIAL has won 44 state championships.  Far more than any other district in PA.  Took 3 of 6 this year.  I think they are just fine...

Judging by today's performance, Fleming and Garcia would be putting up the same ridiculous numbers if they were in the West, actually their stats might be even more inflated. Garcia kid looks like a man as a 10th grader.  No doubt his numbers would be there.  Fleming good but completely outmatched ...
