Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Bias has nothing to do with disliking or favoring a team. That happens in all sports. Is everyone who roots for Alabama biased against those from Auburn? No. Bias is a PREJUDICE against or in favor of a thing, person or group compared to another, usually in a way considered unfair. Sort of like what...

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Who's ranting? Just making my point, that' all. Got to get the public informed first. Too bad the TD has everyone on here snookered, and most can't see that there is definitely a bias toward some schools and programs.

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Now let's see if the Tribdem has enough guts to call it like it is.

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Attention Johnstown Tribune sports section: Last Saturday you described Penn State's 19-point victory over Syracuse in men's basketball with the headline "Penn State WALLOPS Struggling Syracuse". According to my online thesaurus, the following are synonyms for the word "wallops": strikes, batters, p...

Re: 2019-20 Wrestling Season

Sounds like the AAABA. Not enough participants showing interest? Can't fill in the brackets? Let more teams in from the same area, such as two teams from Johnstown, 3 from Brooklyn, etc.

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Just don't EMBELLISH headlines, or use them to FAVOR or diminish the efforts of one team or another. If the Tribune covered the Battle of the Little Big Horn, the headlines would have said "Custer Killed at Skirmish in Montana."

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

The topic, once I got on, has been fairness in reporting by the Tribune. The SC/Richland headline was definitely a feel good lead in. Heck, maybe it should have read "SC Slips By Richland" or "SC Nips Richland". But "fights off"? Unbelievable. As far as tomorrow's Pitt/PSU headlines are concerned, t...

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Well, the Tribune sports section really outdid themselves today. Down by the score of 49-7 in the fourth quarter last night, headlines of the Richland game read, "Southern Columbia Fights Off Richland". Of course, PSU men's basketball headline was, "Penn State Wallops Struggling Syracuse" with a 19 ...

Re: Penn State at Ohio State

Actually, I should be a little smarter tomorrow. I'm sure, after tonight's PSU loss to Mississippi, that the tribune will tell all of us Ole Miss's predicted finish in the SEC, just like it did with K-State in the Big 12 in the Pitt article. Can't wait for the reveal.
