Re: Portage vs. Bishop Guilfoyle D6 A Championship Thread

When you started mentioning NFL coaches, I was hoping to see a John Madden comment appear. Maybe if Madden would diagram some plays for Portage on the the telestrator, they could keep it within 50? Seriously a John Madden reference? He hasn't broadcast a game since 2009. Yeah, but he makes a helluv...

Re: Mt. Union vs. Tyrone AA Championship Thread

The Mt. Union crowd had been begging for respect all year, not sure why. They're doing just fine, just focus on football. Absolutely agree! If you play the game and win with class, you will get the respect you are due. The one thing that I liked was there was very little talk the whole week leading...

Re: Hypothetically?

Basketball is by far the worst. All you have to do is recruit 3 or 4 superior athletes. Even if you can get one new one a year as a freshmen. Many basketball teams only have to go 6 or 7 deep in high school. Yes I agree. And the other problem is the denial that they recruit. Be it coaches, parents,...

Re: Mt. Union vs. Tyrone AA Championship Thread

MU's offensive line and defense do get overlooked by the explosive playmakers. Defensively they have done a good job at adjusting their defensive front after the dismissal of one of the starters. The middle of the defense has gotten better every game since then. The offensive line also is very physi...

Re: Which coach/staff did the most with the least

Williamsburg and Southern Huntingdon come to mind in the ICC. Northern Bedford as well...they beat a few teams they probably should not have. Definitely agree with the Southern Huntingdon comment. Ryan Garlock went from being ousted as head coach, to needing to reapply and interview to keep his pos...

Re: Portage vs. Bishop Guilfoyle D6 A Championship Thread

Portage can hang this on their bulletin boards for motivation, they can cry from the rooftops about being the best District 6A public school football team, write letters to the PIAA, play with or without their head coach (or even have Vince Lombardi or Bill Parcells coach them up), and bring in a c...

Re: Mt. Union vs. Tyrone AA Championship Thread

Both teams will have to prepare for a style they haven't seen this year. Tyrone has to be able to deal with MU's speed and be able to tackle in open space. MU has to deal with the most physical team they will have seen all year. It should be a good one.

Re: Hypothetically?

It is true that all schools take in the enrollment at their school, my issue is with the co-ops. Privates may have lower enrollment but their kids are often from multiple school districts. I don't think it's equal that a public school has to take in enrollment for a co-op but if a private pulls kid...

Re: Hypothetically?

For enrollment, the private and charter schools only count the number of students attending their school. It is calculated every other year. (I believe they count male students that are in 9-11 grade. For girls' sports, the same.) It you are a public school and have a co-op agreement with another sc...
