Re: Playoffs and fan travel considerations
I agree. You lost. We're talking about such noted college basketball meccas like St. Francis (PA), the UPJ Sports Center and maybe IUP's gym. Whoopdeefreakingdoo!

Re: Playoffs and fan travel considerations
Wasn't a district baseball final cut short due to time constraints once? A vacant lot would have allowed the game to be played until proper completion.

The reward is the championship. It shouldn't matter where it was won. The state hockey championship has been played at Planet Ice like venues.

Re: Playoffs and fan travel considerations
The key word is DESERVE. An athlete should be just as satisfied playing for a district championship at Ferndale's gym as St. Francis. Bishop McCort's auditorium was packed for an honors elementary band concert last spring. Don't those playing for the WPIAL Quad A football championship DESERVE to pla...

Re: Playoffs and fan travel considerations
District band and chorus are held in high school auditoriums.

Re: D6 Seedings
The only team that should advance to the PIAA tournament is the district champ. Having 7-5 play 7-3 for the chance to play for the state championship is the real joke.

Re: Food for thought
Football is under fire due to concussions. The NFL is being sued by several hundred ex-players. Does it really make sense to have high school gladiators playing sixteen games in sixteen weeks? Even our paid professionals get a week off and none of them play both ways and few of them play on special ...

Re: Food for thought
The PIAA doesn't need to make money.
Beating your local rivals should be sufficient reason to play the game. It worked that way for many years.
