Week 9 AA Power Rankings

Well one thing we should know by now. Don't try to predict the unpredicatable.

1.Mount Union-(8-0) The Trojans remained perfert as they pounded an outmanned West Branch team 42-6. This week they travel to Tussey Mountain to take on a 7-1 Titan team. This should be another good test in preparation for the post season.

2.Tyrone Area-(7-1) Coming off their first loss of the season, the Golden Eagles put the Wildcats upset dreams to bed early. They put up 28 points in the first quarter and never looked back in a 61-0 win. The final 2 games are on the road, heading to Penns Valley this week for a tune up prior to their week 10 showdown with Chestnut Ridge.

3.Central - (6-2) Big plays early against Bellefonte secured the win for Central. The Dragons also had a big opening period opening up a 27-0 lead. Central travels to Huntingdon this week to take on another playoff qualifier. This is all Cental though, they are one another level compared to the Bearcats.

4.Juniata-(7-1) Swartz and crew kept it rolling this week with a 45-21 win over Millersburg. Should be another easy week for the Indians as they host Susquenita.

5.Forest Hills- (4-4) The Rangers need some W and there are alot of question marks when they take on Richland this week. The big question will be if Blough will be in uniform after being ejected from the Johnstown game. With out him the Ranger may fall again to an improving Richland team. They also have Bedford for week 10, so this is the week. They need a win against the Rams in the Bailey Bowl.

6.Penn Cambria(5-3) The Panthers have secured a playoff spot with only the seed to be determined. The next two games are Somerset, and McCort. I don't see them being able to compete against Somerset. Look for a split to finish at 6-4

7.Southern Huntingdon(4-4) Two big weeks to go, and Southern could be a dark horse in the playoff race. Two games remain against Mo Valley and Claysburg, both winable for the Rockets. Could they not only sneak into the playoffs, but secure the number 6 slot? I say yes

8.Richland (3-5) Coming off a minor upset on the last play of the game against CC, the Rams now must prepare for the Bailey bowl. Yes the flashcards will be going in this one. Any hopes of a playoff appearance hinges on this family affair. I see daddy Don on the plus side of the scoreboard in this one.

9.Central Cambria (3-5) Back to back losses to team they should have beat have the Red Devils looking for help. All of a sudden every one in Red have become Ranger fans. Right now they look to be on the outside looking in. They must take care of business the next 2 weeks against McCort and Westmont.

10. Huntingdon(4-4) Big week for the Bearcats as they host Central. I don't see a way that they win this game. Their playoff hopes are looking good though as week 10 they travel to play Juniata Valley in what will be a must win for them. The Bearcats win the game and make the playoffs. Unfortunately for them it will be 1 and done.

My predictions for the final 8

1 Mt Union(10-0) hosting Forest Hills (5-5)
2 Tyrone (9-1) hosting Huntingdon (5-5)
3 Juniata(8-2) hosting Southern Huntingdon (6-4)
4 Central(8-2) hosting Penn Cambria(6-4)

I have to sometimes chuckle. Just a few weeks ago, multiple posters were saying CC would "run the table", and now they are FH's biggest fans? =))

If Tyrone, Central, Juniata all go 8-2. (Tyrone losing to Ridge) How are they seeded?

Tyrone would have points.....Tyrone, Central then Juniata. Central losing to Ridge and Tyrone. Tyrone to be 8-2 would lose to Ridge as well. Juniata would lose to Williams Valley and not any power points from Susquenita(0-8).

It's looking like .5PC, 6.Hun,7.FH, 8.SH.... With games 160 miles apart in Fishertown and Tower City deciding where 5,6&7 go the next week.

Tyrone still has a very outside shot at #1 even with a Mount Union win.

I'm talking:
Mount Union > Penns Valley
Tyrone > Chestnut Ridge
Claysburg-Kimmel > Southern Huntingdon
Northern Cambria > Northern Bedford
Central Mountain > Jersey Shore
Philipsburg-Osceola > Bellwood-Antis
Huntingdon > Juniata Valley
Central > Ligonier Valley
