Neutral Fields for second rounds

Post by Big Ike »

Wow, I did have Blairsville penciled in to the finals, They really were deflated by the injury to Robinson...Congrats to Portage. That said:

Not that the field had anything to do with Mr. Robinsons injury but I always wondered why , especially the last few years, for the second round of playoffs does not attempt a neutral sight on Turf? Is it cost? the number of Turf stadiums? maybe the availability? I just would like to see these second round games played with the most "pristine" conditions possible. Were talking maybe 8 games at the most between a and AA.

Neutral Fields for second rounds

Johnstown,Richland,Somerset, Hollidaysburg, Mansion, Saint Francis, and the Point Stadium are the only turf fields in all of district 5/6 combined so believe.

There just simply isn't enough and they aren't spread out enough.

Bigger stadium seating would be nice, give everyone a chance to come see these games. I think you could get bigger crowds there also

The WPIAL is probably the only district to use grass for their district championships.

Lol, I do love the Heinz ending, but do forget it is grass, professionally manicured with lots of money thrown at it, more than a high school... but grass nonetheless...But with all those Turf venues that should be enough of them to give have a few semifinals play on them. IUP could also be in the mix...I am guessing from responses it could be the money to rent the place and maybe no venue is "central" for a spread out D-6.
