Splash hire, as of yesterday I don't think that was the hire.

Congratulations to an outstanding young man. Great player at all levels. I hope he gets the support he will need in jtown. This is not the team he left 15 yrs ago. Long way away. Best of luck!

Crimson, this has to be a good thing for BM doesn't it? Especially given all the turmoil of the past couple days (and couple years actually) I would think the Hawkins name would add instant credibility and would also maybe get some kids interested again in football who may have soured on the sport over the past few seasons.

I think getting out the 70 year old that the game passed by a decade ago is a if plus. No offense to coach Davitch, but his methods were out of style and the kids just weren't responding to him.

Artrell brings an expertise no other coach in the area has: an NFL background. His X's and O's are an unknown but I think as a motivator and technique wise he will be as good as they come for this region.

Artrell will bring excitement back instantly, and McCort will be competitive very, very soon.

As an alum, I'm very pleased with the hire as are most people I have spoken with. McCort football should be back soon.

I might add, most of the current players were campaigning for him anyway.

Sounds like a great hire.
Doesn't he have an athletic son? Will he be following him to Osborne St?
What schools does this hurt the most???
Johnstown (obviously), Richland?, Ferndale? Westmont? any others?

After seeing Westmont's wrestling team this year with a lot of Crushers any chance Westmont drops football and co-ops with the Crushers for football.

Could be a win/win!

His son Aeneas is a monster 6-3 240 freshman. He went to Moeller Catholic in Cincinnati which is pretty big time. I believe he is moving to Johnstown with his Dad.

Mccort still needs a lot. They were bad on offense and defense. Some of the worst tackling I have ever seen last year from a mccort team. The qb was tough as was #30 and #34. #5 has talent, but needs to get bigger. They should pull some other decent players from other schools with Hawkins at the helm. The line had some size also.
