Teams with a losing record shouldn't even consider the postseason....that's just crazy....

In the past, Penns Manor has had the .500 rule for playoffs. But I know they did let the baseball team go a few years ago when they were one game under.

What about a team like Cambria Hights or Westmont who is AA but plays AA, AAA, and AAAA schools and the 2 time single A state champs? Should they not be considered because they have a losing record (possibly this year)? But then a AA team with a winning record in the ICC should get in even though they play A and AA teams? I think that's why there is a point system that rather than just going by winning %. Call me crazy but I think its a good system.

Don't believe it will be often that 12 teams come out of a 19 team field with winning records.

If the Heritage Conference stood by the .500 rule you could see Ferndale, Claysburg Kimmel, Conemaugh Valley, and St. Josephs making it into the playoffs. That should make for some interesting 1st round games.

I don't think anyone is blaming the point system.  It's the large number of teams making it to the playoffs.I thought going 6 classes could cut down a couple weeks. But yet we are still going until mid December.

In AAA after the top two everyone else is .500 or worse.

The system allows for sub .500 teams to get in so in a round about way we are blaming the system. I was just arguing for the appearance of those teams but i get it 12 out of 19 seems like a bit much.

I think the system definitely needs fixed. I think you should play your first 4 weeks or so against anyone you want, but then you must play the schools near you that are your same classification, a district if you want to call it that, before you can ever make the playoffs.
