Collin Smith is similar to who?
Collin Smith is stud, no argument. We have had some good ones in the area, who is he similar to?
Steve Franco? Ferens from PC? Will Seymour from CC? Nate Crookshank from BC?
Comparison between Alex Hoenstine and Collin Smith ?

I would compare him to Steve Franco from Tyrone. But I believe Smith plays better on Defense than Franco did. They are both similar QB's. Great arms and can use their legs when they need too. Smith is just so physical on defense. In my opinion, that's what sets him apart.

You can't really compare him to anyone. He's a different type of player.

Re: Collin Smith is similar to who?
I coached Steve Franco in Youth football, 5th & 6th grade. Great athlete then as well. We played him at Fullback because his dad (Coach John Franco) told us he didn't care where we put him as long as it wasn't QB because he didn't want him to develop any bad habits. I don't think they actually moved Franco to QB until he was in high school. But if they are comparing Smith to Franco, then Smith is a HECK OF A PLAYER (never seen him play). Franco was the 2011 PIAA Player of the Year and is a starting Safety for IUP now, GREAT KID!

It's hard to compare athletes in the area because few and far go to a power 5 team. Those guys like Stephens-Howling and Reed were so electric with the football in their hands. I realize those two weren't initially brought up in the discussion. Just mentioned them because they were D1 guys. Franco is a good player for IUP. He's a good sized safety now and filled his frame out well. Only downside with Smith is that if he puts on weight they might move him in the box. I see him as a guy that will play on early downs or short yardage for WVU.

Lezzer was 225 his senior year and played LB as a freshman at BC at 230. He was a much bigger kid than Smith. He's currently at UCF where he has to sit out a year and will be eligible next year as a RS junior.CoffinCorner wrote:Christian Lezzer? Former Clearfield qb, went to Boston College as safety. I thought Lezzer's career was over with a neck injury?

He retired during the 2015 season due to concussions but was cleared by a neurologist to return this year and transferred to UCF.Crimson's Ghost wrote:I thought Lezzer's career was over with a neck injury?
