Class AA State Title Thread: Steel Valley vs. Southern Columbia

[left]Many of us watched Southern Columbia hold off District Six champ Ligonier Valley last night.  They are a tough physical running team. They are coached by one of the state's all-time best in Jim Roth.  The Tigers have 7 state championships, including winning AA last year in convincing fashion over Aliquippa.  [/left]
[left]Steel Valley has put the mercy rule/running clock in effect in every single game this season. They feature Pitt-commit and arguably the best player in the state, Paris Ford.  He's a dynamic athlete that can score any time he touches the ball.  The Ironmen also have three-star RB Dewayne Murray.  It's certainly not a one man show.  They are incredibly fast. [/left]

When teams talk about best teams in the state they always mention Pittsburgh CC, Imhotep, St Joe's.. Steel Valley is very very good, talent all over the place. I think they feel disrespected and are playing with a chip ans will beat So. Colombia by 14+.

Steel Valley looks like the Clairton team from the Boyd era, but with a bigger line and a TE with hands and speed. SV is probably the best small school in PA.

Steel Valley is all-around the fastest and most athletic team in AA football. If SC wants any chance to win in this one they will have to sustain long drives when they have the ball and score each time. If Steel Valley's offense is on the field a lot this game could get ugly.

I thought that there was no way SC could handle Ligonier Valley last week. Seems like when you get to this point you probably are a pretty good team.

Yeah I didn't think there was any way they could either. I was very surprised at how big and fast they were upfront. Yes LV had more athletes just like Steel Valley will have more but maybe I will be surprised again and SC will pull out a win. They definitely need to play mistake free just as they did against LV.
