I still think the PIAA should seperate classes into small Districts/Divisions of 6 teams. 5 division games and 5 games you get to schedule for yourself.

Sorry GRF, but you are mistaken.  They played up into AA in football for 4 years during the Salem era.  The PIAA does not have the classifications from 2004-07 still on their website, but there is a blurb about them playing up in the following website dedicated to Johnstown football in 2005: http://trojannation.net/id276.html

They appeared in the D6 AA championship game in each of those four years, winning twice.

Always love the work harder comment. Sometimes the coaching or talent isn't there no matter how hard everyone works. Where has Ligonier been the last two decades? Lazy kids I suppose.

Bishop McCort did indeed play up in classification. There was kind of a stink over it when they decided to stop doing that because the rumor at the time was the unwritten agreement for them to play in the LHAC was that they had to play up.

The thought was they played up so they wouldn't have to compete with BC.

Except from 2006-2009 when McCort was winning their district titles Bishop Carroll was about what they are right now.

BG is A, so is mccort. Bishop McCort went from 141 boys to 111, pretty bad trend.

Forest Hills and Ligonier are the two largest AA schools in the state, and 2 and 3 kids away from being AAA.

So we have all this outrage over BG dominating Single A and not choosing to play up.  Now, theoretically we could have Forest Hills win AAA tonight, and McCort win AA tomorrow night and both would move down a class for the next 2 year cycle.

Forest Hills moves from the largest D6 AAA school to the largest D6 AA school in a 2 year period. From 243 to 198.
