This is getting ridiculous
This is getting ridiculous
Reading an account of the Marion Center-United game there is still talk of United hopefully finishing its season next week. United has fourteen healthy bodies when the game began last night. By halftime it was down to twelve.
Conemaugh Valley forfeited today’s scheduled game with Portage as they reported only having twelve healthy bodies available.
Next week’s game between United and CV should be canceled today by both school’s administrations for safety reasons and common sense. These same administrations do not think twice about canceling school when it’s too cold or four inches of snow are in the forecast.

The safety of these student athletes should trump all other considerations, so I agree that United / CV should be canceled. Hopefully, there won't be any forthcoming punishment from the D6 Committee as they have been known to put a program on probation for a year for forfeiting a game.

Maybe these programs need to take a year or 2 off. Some smaller schools have to many options for sports taking away from the budget of the bigger sports. Time to eliminate something.

What other fall sport would you suggest CV eliminate? The only other offering they have for males is golf, which only has 5-6 boys.GoldenRamsFAN wrote:Maybe these programs need to take a year or 2 off. United also offers XC and Soccer, but they haven't had to forfeit any matches. Maybe, just maybe, they should eliminate football or investigate a co-op.
It's all about supply and demand and it appears that demand is waning at some of the smaller schools. 7-man or 8-man could be a great fit for these schools if the PIAA would ever retract its head from the sand and seriously consider it.

I agree with the comment about football. If the other sports are fielding enough players instead of football, maybe it’s time to consider dropping the football program. I’m as much of a football fan as the next guy, but why eliminate programs just to try to save another? If kids are choosing to play something other than football, that’s a football issue, not the other programs’ problem.upnorth wrote:What other fall sport would you suggest CV eliminate?
