Asking for a friend.
Are coaches paid to wear a gaiter right side up or win football games? Asking for a friend.

Not sure why the Steelers would willingly choose to downgrade at head coach for no real reason. The team just isn’t well constructed right now. They don’t have nearly as much talent as the good teams in the AFC right now.

Because destabilizing the most consistent franchise in the league surely would guarantee a Super Bowl run every year. It's honestly kind of disappointing that the geniuses on thid board just give away their expert analysis for free.

Just a little history lesson:

Chuck Noll won four Super Bowls in six years, built Steeler Nation, set the foundation for what exists today. And he built it from scratch. First year they were something like 1-13. Had some great drafts, but he also did something with it.

Uttering the name Mike Tomlin in the same breath as Chuck Noll denigrates one of the best coaches in NFL history.

Tomlin inherited an outstanding group from Cowher, who did little with them, and won a Super Bowl. It has been downhill ever since.

Never having a losing season defines mediocrity, not success.

I am trying to figure out when steeler fans have become spoiled little brats but its becoming clear its what a lot of fans have become.

Noll was coaching in a different era, where free agency and salary caps werent really a thing so parity between teams arent there like today.

As for Tomlin, only 1 team and coach has been to and won more superbowls than him since he was hired. Thats Billy B and the patriots. Since he became steelers head coach I am pretty sure no other coach/team has won the superbowl more than once and has been there more than 2 times. Also during that time every other team at some point had a losing season, where as tomlin has not. He has been an elite coach the whole time in pittsburgh.

Any Pittsburgh fan complaining about tomlin are ones who have become spoiled by his success as a coach, because his 15 years have been more successful than the previous 25 years of steeler history before him.

I think most people's problem with Tomlin comes from the fact he had Big Ben Leveon Bell and Antonio Brown before the latter 2 became headaches. Throw in Mike Wallace Emanuel Sanders I'm not sure if Heath Miller was in there still then. Plus a good defense. Then lose to a Jacksonville or Tebow in Denver or a guy who played lacrosse in college being wide open the whole game against the Patriots. Or not make the playoffs at all. To say Tomlin is not a good coach is wrong but to say he is elite is wrong also. He is a good coach nothing more nothing less.

He is not an elite coach for sure. He could be considered a good coach due to his longevity and record, but not elite.

I dont know what you call elite then as coaching. Since he was hired only one coach can say theyve been to and won more superbowls, there have only been other 5 coaches who can say they have been to as many superbowls and won a superbowl. None of them can say they havent had a losing season.

What is qualifying an elite coach over the past 15 years? Is the only elite coach billy b in new england?

Noll, Landry, Shula, Walsh, Belicheck, would be examples of elite coaches. I wouldn't put Tomlin with those guys.
