Spencer Lee and Gavin Teasdale have both verbally committed to the University of Iowa. Congratulations to both of them and to Iowa for getting two great wrestlers.

It turns out that Teasdale has changed his mind and will be headed to PSU, interesting.

And the next day Malvern prep stud and #5 in class of '18, Michael Beard, de commits from northwestern and has a short list of Cornell and PSU.... Nice!!!

But it sounds like they'll gain Beard, Nevills, and maybe Verkleeren, but lose Roman Bravo Young?

I think they still may keep Young, but that's in doubt now, log jam of lightweight beasts. They will probably gain the youngest Nevills - Seth but lost AJ Nevills . He spent the season in state college but heading back to Cali to wrestle at fledgling Fresno State who is bringing wrestling back. AJ really had nowhere else to go. Nick has 2 years left, and Seth graduates high school next year. BTW Seth will be at IUP this weekend for flo nationals

BTW Beard isn't a given, Cornell is other school on his list and they nabbed Beards buddy and Malvern teammate Seth Janney today

My question is what kind of scholarship offer is he getting? D1 only has 11.something scholarships. With all of the talent at PSU some of these hammers might only be getting a fraction of $$$ they could be getting if they went elsewhere. Anybody have some incite on how that works?

It's 9.9 scholarships... However the heck that works. Irritating when football plays 22 and gets 85 scholarships. Baseball gets like 12. Most of these top guys go where
They have a shot at world and Olympic teams. Scholarships become secondary.
I'm not sure of the legalities of it.
But I do know when guys like Taylor finally get a shot on world team and pins a bronze medalist and dominates Olympic champ... Kids want to train where he does. Then add going 5/5 in NCAA finals and beating a couple 2x champs while putting 2 freshmen on top of podium...... Well every beast in the nation wants to train in your room

Another thing that could factor in. Re watch all the athlete interviews. Clark finally climbed a mountain and his face was drawn , looked like crap, and acted like his dog just died. Most of the others were wound tight as a drum. All the PSU kids always have a smile, always talk teammates family and God. And always look healthy. Cael puts weight and muscle on guys, when was last guy at PSU that dropped? People are realizing there's new ideology in use and times are a changing.... Evolve or die
