If anyone should be upset by losing kids how do you think Johnstown feels because most of those kids all reside in the Greater Johnstown School District.

Digger while I do think if the team stayed combined they could've competed for a state title, how are they mediocre? They are still two of the top teams in D6 AA
McCort wrestlers who were Westmont trained!

Westmont agreed to the co-op, so they only have themselves to blame.

If McCort didn't have the studs the do now would they have started the wrestling program this year......I don't think so!

It's going to be interesting tonight, for sure! This story is blowing up on our website. Here's the link if you want to check out what coach Benton had to say about it.

Actually, if you look at their core of wrestlers, only 1 is a "parochial student".  Of the BM Mat Club's 9 top wrestlers, this is the breakdown of their elementary and home school program:

1 McCort (Parochial system, but came up through Westmont)
1 Westmont
1 Bedford
1 United
5 Johnstown

Definitely leads one to believe that there is more than educational/religious reasons at play.

There is a difference between a female wrestler, and a female who is on a wrestling roster just to send out. Could you imagine the look on her face if BM called Westmont's bluff and they had to wrestle someone like Anthony Walters? Would Westmont then forfeit?

Not to sidetrack this thread, but CC has a female on their squad.  When they wrestled an exhibition match or 2 against FH the other nt., why didn't she take the mat?  After all it would only have been for exhibition.
It ain't over until it's over.

No idea, was there someone in her weight class?

Pancgrappler2 - How can this be?  Bedford is in the diocese for Bishop Guilfoyle?  They have a football player at Guilfoyle.  How can the kid should be at Guilfoyle if they followed their rules the way I understand it.    Can anyone explain?

I hear Bedford will lose a few football players to BG next year, so maybe ask BG how that is being done.
