2018-19 wrestling-Thoughts? Predictions?

Post by SportsFan96 »

Now that the football season is winding down for some and over for others, what are some thoughts and predictions for the upcoming wrestling season?

Get ready to watch the beginning of a long successful run by the young Rangers' frosh & continuity with Jr. high teams.  May not be enough to make team duals come Feb., but they will affect the outcomes of a bunch of other squads.  Can't wait.

I agree...I think the Forest Hills team is a team on the rise. A lot of great young talent coming up through.  They will be at CR on December 18th, should be a good match.

Hope traveling weather will be good for the trip over the mountain that night!  Agree it should be a head-knocker.

Manfred, any truth to the rumor of a couple of those kids transferring out of state? Heard that from a couple people from the Forest Hills area.

I think CR is still the team to beat in our area. Forest Hills is on the rise, but until someone knocks them off, I think the Lions still rule the jungle. They lost some great wrestlers from last year, but they are still loaded with a bunch returning.

The FH team run may be a year or 2 away yet. I know a few of the super froshes come in this year, but they also graduated a lot of wins so I’m not sure this is the year. How’s their depth Manfred?

I agree that in the area, CR is still king of the jungle. I think Westy returns almost everyone from their D6 championship team, but I’m not sure they have enough to dethrone Ridge. North Star should have a nice team, but again, not enough to deal with the Lions.

D6 AA is going to be exciting with BEA and PO bringing really nice teams to the table. I’m sure Huntington will be tough as always, and I look for West Branch and Glendale to be formidable as well.

I’m sure I’m missing someone, so who else is going to be tough to deal with this year?

First, I NEVER said -this- is their year.  I said it was the beginning of a run.  I agree CR, Westy , BEA, Philipsburg, Huntingdon, W. Branch, N. Star, and Glendale will be tough, which is why I said the young Rangers may not even make team dual playoffs.  Only 1 young kid I know left, to Mt. Pleasant, he had friends and contacts in that area.  Depth shouldn't be the issue of the past season or 2.  Lack of upper weights will be.  As those youngsters get a year or so older and gain some weight, the uppers will round out.
It ain't over until it's over.

All local football teams have been eliminated, so let's talk wrestling! Anybody think any teams will be a "surprise" team this year and perform better than expected? Any incoming freshman/sophomores to keep an eye on? Who is the front runner to possibly win the LHAC, Westmont?, Forest Hill? Ridge? Others? Any possible state title contenders?
