Saturday games

Post by WallyPipp »

Seeing schedules recently of many area schools that are playing games 3 and sometimes 4 games in a 5-day week. Also playing 3 straight days, but then nothing is scheduled for Saturday...that makes no sense. I played 4 years of HS baseball, in eastern PA. Saturdays were used for games. It wasn't uncommon. Why does the central PA area seem to not want to do this? It really doesn't make any sense. I get that we live in PA and spring weather is not very cooperative with baseball schedules. Games have to be made up. There's so much discussion about making HS sports safer and especially for young pitchers...why force teams to play games in such condensed format but let Saturdays sit open with nothing happening?

I am not saying this is right, because it is clearly for the worst, but times are different. Most schools probably have kids that wouldn't be there if the games were on Saturdays.
