What risk though crimson? The steelers right now cant offer anything more or less than the franchise tag until the end of the season. So what is he going to gain right now?

In turning down the Steelers long-term offer, Bell passed up some amount of guaranteed money significantly more than the $12 million he'll get this year. By deciding to play under the tag this year, Bell is risking that long-term money if he is injured this season. He's betting he won't be injured and will be able to sign a long-term deal better than what the Steelers offered him. Considering what guys like Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch and Eddie Lacy got as free agents this year (1 year deals, $4 mill), even that logic seems a bit risky.

What does this have to do with him showing up to training camp and signing his tender.

He's not holding out, he's just not required to be there until he signs which he will eventually.

It doesn't help or hurt him, just kinda makes him look like a jerk, which I doubt he cares about.

After reading he tossed an agreement between his agent and the team. I don't care! No RB in the NFL gets 5 yrs anymore. He had it in his hands and said no. To heck with him. He's missed 17 regular season games and at least 4 playoff games in 4 years and they offered him 5 years. Team should count themselves lucky, and either trade him now, or give him 400 carries and let him see how much his beat up butt gets then

Thats what ive been saying the whole time. He has nothing to gain from not showing up... they cant offer him more money, more years or anything besides the tag. All he is doing now is degrading his value to everyone

No. What he's doing now is avoiding practice. Smart move.

Since he has entered the league he has been a distraction at every start of the season.  Whether it be injuries or suspension.   I'm glad he didn't sign his contract, between MSU and Pittsburgh he has pretty many miles on already.  I like the idea of franchise tag and just giving him 20-30 touches a game.  If the Steelers have the money do the same thing next year.  The Redskins have done it with Kirk Cousins.

He says 9-1 today on twitter. The steelers should do 1 of 3 things.

1. Bench him early and see how back ups do.

2. Run him until he is gassed

3. Trade him.

Either way he needs a punishment somehow for literally failing to show up for no reason. Its an embarassment to the team
