New Pirates Staff

Post by sportsfan1072 »

With some of the other MLB teams hiring their managers, who would you like to see the Pirates hire for their vacant coaching/manager/president positions? And do you think they could be successful with the current roster?

Like to see Shelton or Christensen as the manager. Tear it down, rebuild, let Cherington build the farm system like he's been able to everywhere else. Everybody that doesn't have the name Newman, Tucker, Keller, or Reynolds should be up for trade this winter.

If you want to tear it all down, which it’s already a pile of smoldering ruins, you might as well give those four away as well if someone wants them.

Based on Cheringtons past statements. There will be a firecracker under the manure pile. Marte and Archer are gone. I expect Bell to be gone as well... they won’t sniff 65 wins in 2020 but if they stay the course, eh..... maybe 80-85 wins in 4 years

I'd say dump the under performers of the old guard. Tear it down and start all over. Rebuild the farm system with the trades of Bell, Marte, Archer (won't get much), and Polanco. Get as many prospects as possible. Reload a once promising farm system. Bring in the vets to PNC and try out some young guns. Develop and promise me a light at the end of the tunnel. 5 years of misery for a 2-3 year window. The core that broke the two decades of basement, is long gone.
Thanks!

There's a few useful pieces still around, but I'd trade the majority of them. It's going to be tough to put a band-aid over what they have - just start over entirely for this new GM.

Cherington has stated he wouldn’t take a GM job unless he could build and shape himself. So at least we’ll get an eventful winter

The question is will the useful pieces the team would be willing to trade bring back useful pieces or just pieces.

Hahaha other than Bell, what do they have that’s useful? Ok Reynolds in a small sample size, maybe Frazier as role player... the rest wouldn’t make AAA playoffs
