Week 6 Predictions!
Week 6 is upon us...and things are starting to become a lot clearer. This week features a couple Key matchups with HUGE playoffs implications as a few teams are in a DO OR DIE situation for this post season life!
Somerset at Richland
The winless Eagles get to take the 35 minute bus trip up 219 to square off against the Richland Rams. Hey, it's been a tough year for both of these teams with 1 total win between the two of them. That win belongs to Richland and Pecora and Crew are about to put another slash in that win column. Hey it might not be a big win against a powerhouse School, but it's a big win over a big school!
Richland 27 -- Somerset 13
Penn Cambria at Cambria Heights
The Panthers are just catching their breath after barely squeaking by Central last week. Cambria Heights on the other hand had their varsity in for the whole game last week...and lost to the JV's of Forest Hills who only played a half by a touchdown. But hey, you gotta feel for the Highlanders...Take your hats off to these kids because they are just getting it kicked every week and they keep coming back. Hey, that no quit attitude will take you far, and I hope you have it this week because you are going to be taken out behind the shed again by Coach Fetzer and whooped on for another 48 minutes.
Panthers by 4 scores.
Bed"Ford" @ Central
It's week 6 Central and I'm still waiting for that big time win Dragon Fans were preaching in Week 2. I have a feeling I'll be waiting another week after da Bisons run it up this week. The Bisons made some plays and fought off a tough Central Cambria team last week. They will be fine however as the starters won't have to play for more than 3 quarters in this one. Bedford you can hop on Rt. 220 this week on the way to the game, set it cruise control, and coast into the playoffs!
Bedford by 3 scores
Johnstown at Bishop Carroll
Forcellini banged up? I think this guy would still play if he was in a body cast. After two tough weeks Coach Sponsky's crew gets to face the speedy Trojans. Johnstown's strength lies in their passing attack with "X". But it is going to take a balanced attack to take down the Huskies, this team is too well coached to let a few big play guys beat them. This game's score might be a little closer then what most think as Coach Sponsky tries to limit Lauer and Forcellini as much as possible to get them healthy again.
B.C. 28 -- Johnstown 19
**GOTW**
Westmont at McCort
The once huge Rivalry has lost some of it's luster, but this should still be a good one this week. Both of these teams are shuffling for playoffs seeding and the outcome of this one will surely have an impact on those. With another loss Westmont would be faced with 3 losses and looking at a low seed which could mean a trip back to face McCort...or even worse to Tyrone. It is a little to early to speculate there, but either way both teams need this game bad. Westmont has used the big play capability of Kanuch and Kurhi to get them through this year. I don't think they will be able to pull enough off this week against the talented Crushers as Scotty Lewis (Top 3 LB in the Conference, even though Salem hides his stats), will keep them in check. Crushers too much for Westmont
McCort 34 -- Westmont 14
**GOTW 2**
Central Cambria @ Forest Hills
Hey if you can't beat em...Hire a Coach that graduated from that school and hope he can pull it off. That's what the Devils are hoping as Coach Terek (FH Grad) takes his Devils to Sidman to face the Rangers. This series has seen it all in the last 9 years...and all 9 times Forest Hills has come out on top. From OT losses, to last minute missed field goals, CC is trying to end the drought against Forest Hills before this thing reaches Double Digits. The last time CC beat FH was 95 when Ebensburg's favorite son (Randy McTavish) was the QB.
If there is any year the Devils need this game, it is this year. The Devils have their backs up against the wall as another loss will have Coach Traino holding open gyms every night starting Saturday. 4 losses will not get you in the playoffs this year. Can the Devils stop the skid and keep their playoff hopes alive? Sure they can, just like they can every other year, but will they....?
Expect another hard fought game between these two teams. This one is going to come down to the wire. The only hope for CC is that they can physically beat the Rangers. I don't see CC breaking many big plays, they are going to try and use ball control with Makin...5 yards at a time.
For the Rangers this game is just as big. The Rangers have inserted a lot of new faces inserted in their lineup since that week 3 loss to the Bisons. In that game the line of FH didn't look too good, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the strong offensive front of Central Cambria.
The Rangers passing game has emerged lately, if the line can give QB Rearick time, he should have no trouble finding Trout and Oswalt all night long.
Basically this game is going to be won in the trenches, resulting in an exciting finish at the end as always. I'll take history on my side and my early season prediction that CC would end the season 5-4...

Re: Week 6 Predictions!
Quick comment on the FH/CC game...although im not sure, i believe the devils have lost 10 straight against the Rangers? They meet somewhere in the playoffs 2 or 3 years ago.
Either way, history or not. CC is the better team. Im taking them, devils over history.
CC utilizes their skill players, makin over 200 yards, devils by 14.

Re: Week 6 Predictions!
Easy bisoncurtain...just because FH lost to the bisons by 28, and CC lost to them by only a TD doesn't mean they're the better team. As i recall, westmont beat the bisons 24-21, then FH beat Westmont 30-3 then bedford beat FH 28-7. So you cant make predictions based on the scores of games, because thats what your doing. Yea CC has an awesome running game, but wheres there passing game, theyre not going to go far without a passing game in the playoffs.
Im looking forward to this game and its gonna be won upfront between the lineman..

Wow, having CC over FH is quite the prediction. But CC will have to come out and play smashmouth football, jump out on top early, and keep the ball in their posession holding each drive for 5+ minutes. I was extremely impressed with the CC team last Friday, for being so young, they have A LOT working for them, and this team will be dangerous after this year.
CC has thier back on the wall, and FH has the ability to come out flat, if this happens, the Red Devils will win the game.
CC 28
FH26

Re: Week 6 Predictions!
My predictions, you figure them out.
Westy vs BM- BM by 3 TD's and an FG. The 50-50 will win 71 bucks. That tells you how many will be there to watch it, with most of those BM's.
FH over CC, a tough game, but nonetheless, the beat goes on. Over/ under 43.
Huskies roll on by 2 TD's.
Bedford by 3 TD's.
The rest- you have to be a fan of those schools to even care.

Re: Week 6 Predictions!
Concerning the Forest Hills - Central Cambria game...
Forest Hills has won the last 11 meetings between the two (9 regular-season contests and two playoff games).
Also, Ebensburg's favorite son was Randy McKavish, not McTavish.
We don't play until Saturday afternoon, so I'm glad to say that I'll be in Sidman Friday evening to witness the curse being broken... hopefully.

Re: Week 6 Predictions!
I was very impressed with Damin and Makin last week and CC almost pulled off a flawless offensive game plan but gave up a big play and had to play catch up. I don't think they can mash up FH a$$ as easily as they did last week but the Devils played with a lot of guts and I think they'll eek one out!
CC 17 FH 15
Ham, where were you? Still afraid of seeing me face to face? Are you all talk and no action?

haha, I saw GURU before the game, then it was time to assume my seat. Had the game gotten out of hand I would have come over, but it was too good to just leave and go over and chit chat for a little bit. I actually considered it at one point in the 3rd quarter, but decided better of it after a 'roughing the passer' penalty that was complete BUSH.
