PSU would probably be #1 in the BCS rankings if released...

Post by Coach »

From a post on Rivals. Look them up, and it is true. The Nits are first in 3 of them mainly because of opponents records. Nwestern, Minny, Ohio State, and South Florida have been alright and are right now helping the Nits.

Remember though...it means squat now. I am just making the post for informative purposes.

"in the ones that count - the BCS computer rankings. Five of the six BCS computers are reporting rankings now (the sixth, Wolfe, won't until the first BCS poll comes out in two weeks). Of those five, three filed their rankings today and we are #1 in ALL THREE. That virtually insures that after the other two file tomorrow our average will put us #1 in the computer rankings."

I guess that puts PSU in a no win situation next week. If they lose, they'll obviously go down in the rankings. Even if they win, they'll have beaten a 3-4 Michigan team which will probably hurt them as well. Just another reason why the BCS is completely insane.

How would they be #1? Are you factoring in where they are ranked in the polls or is that not a factor anymore? If it is, I don't see any way possible that PSU would be #1. I'm not real sure how they changed the BCS rankings this year. I know that the ranking in the polls were always a major factor before. If this is still so, I don't see how PSU would be #1.

There are several undefeated teams (still), and the human polls are 2/3 of the BCS. Since the coaches' poll has PSU at 8, and the Harris poll has them at 9, that means that PSU's poll average (and 2/3 of their score) is 8.5 points. However, they are bound to go up in the rankings if they beat Michigan and win out.

No, most importantly is Texas is #2. Probably a good 6 spots ahead of PSU. Aww that's too bad. Maybe you should go for a run, Ham.

Maybe Texas should play someone worth beating!

Did you predict PSU to be that high this year? Did anybody at this point? Nope. But Texas is always up there, and always chokes, don't expect anything less this year. Watch out for the Buffs...

I agree ham. Texas always does seem to be overrated and then they choke. The problem is that this year the Big 12 is weak. They may have the best chance of going undefeated of any remaining unbeatens.
