Stars of Week Eight... ***************

Portage's bruising fullback Wayne Gathers gained up 234 yards rushing in the Mustang's 27-7 win over Conemaugh Valley. Vince Turner gained 111 yards for the Blue Jays in the loss.

Blairsville beat Ligonier Valley 28-14 and their dynamic duo again played well. QB Adam Highberger had 266 yards passing, 145 of those were to wideout Andy Ostach.

Southern Huntingdon's Johnny Neuder scored four TDs for the Rockets in their 42-17 victory over Claysburg-Kimmel.

There were some big kicks in the district this past week. Garrett Cawson of Hollidaysburg booted a 49 yarder, while his counterpart at State College, Collin Wagner hit one from 47. Hollidaysburg fell to Chambersburg, while State College took care of JFK High out of Cleveland, Ohio.

We round out our stars this week with a trip to the LHAC. Bishop Carroll's Adam Crookshank has put some big numbers up on the offensive side of the ball but he came up big on the defensive side of the ball this past week, picking off two passes in a 25-0 win over Penn Cambria.

Finally, Johnstown's Antwuan Reed gained 137 yards on 22 carries and 2 TDs in the Trojans' 35-21 win over Central Cambria. This performance gives Reed 692 yards rushing on the season, not bad for a sophomore.
