Some people need to get a grip. I wasn't trying to diminish anything. I graduated from Bedford, played for Bedford and have coached for Bedford. I was and am as proud of them as anybody when they have great acomplishments like that. I have been involved with several undefeated teams at Bedford and all were great teams that deserve alot of credit.
Key players and great players are different things. Bedford had lots of key players last year. They could have possably gone undefeated without one of those key players. Every undefeated team is going to have numerous key players. Troy however was a great player. They could not have gone undefeated without him. He was the best football player to come through Bedford since Bill Benbow. Which is saying alot because Bedford produces lots of good football players. I played a year with Bill and I don't feel slighted if someone says we would have lost a few more games if he wasn't there. Because we would have.
Ham, I respect Bedford football as much as anyone. Maybe you know who I am and maybe you don't. I know you and I think you are a good kid. But before you jump me for diminishing Bedford football or their accomplishments. Which I was not doing. I think you should remember what the program is all about. In the word of coach Shoemaker "Class". Lots of people have worked very hard to EARN respect for the Bedford program. Its done by what you did on the field and it can be DIMINISHED by what you say and do off it.

wow guys, nothing like attacking your own, but lefteye is right take troy off of last years team and bedford is easily 6-3. now thats not taking anything away from swaim, afterall hes the one that had troy playing those postitions and calling those plays, it was swaims decision making that allowed troy to be such an asset. saying that without a key ingredient (troy) the system (bison football) would be flawed is by no means degrading the producer (swaim)

Lefteye,
I've for the life of me tryed to figure out who you were for a long long long time and I still can't come to any conclusions. By telling me that you've coached at Bedford, that helps a little bit, but not much.
I remember what Coach Shoemaker tought, on and off the field. He is by far the best coach I had ever played for, and will probably ever be around. I'm well aware of what goes into making a great program and trying to uphold that tradition that is instilled in Bedford athletics. Not just football, all the sports combined. People in the LHAC look at Bedford as a hardnosed bunch of kids with great attitudes and great sportsmanship. Mainly because of what the coaches have taught and displayed over years and years and years of work.
I realize that we would have lost 3 games, maybe more without Troy. I'm not an idiot who believes Bedford is the be all and end all on the football field. Infact, we're far far far from it. It's just that last years team is a touchy subject within the Bison family, as I'm sure you've felt it too. Without Troy, Bedford might have lost those 3 games, but had a better draw in the first round of the playoffs. Who knows?
If you'd like to let me know who you are, I'd be thrilled. By PM of course. I understand that anonymity is important to alot of people on here.
