Last Weeks, "Here's what they said"...
Friday Night HighLights
11/26/2005 - Don Rebel
Two of the four W.P.I.A.L. champions were in action Friday night on the Road to Hershey. Both South Park in 'AA' and Duquesne in CLASS (A)' advanced with impressive victories on impressive performances.
Tyler Scruggs - South Park
Wow, this took a while to figure out who to highlights from South Park's runaway victory over Forest Hills in this PIAA Class (AA) Quarterfinals playoff game. But we finally selected Scruggs, who did OK on the Mansion Park turf. OK? Try 365 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns worth of OK as the Eagles back single handedly soared his mates into the state Semifinals in a 63-22 thrashing of the Rangers.
Layton Dunn - Duquesne
It wasn't spectacular like Duquesne is used to, but Dunn and the rest of the Dukes were effective in blanking Windber. The senior running back rushed for 129 yards on 26 tough carries to lead the Dukes to an 18-0 whitewash of the Ramblers 18-0.
Duquesne Defense
Hey, when your defense holds the opposition to no points and 127 total yards offense PLUS outscores them 2-0 in a state playoff game, it's worth a tip of the helmet.
