Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
D-5 is nothing it's like playing against a bunch of blind kids compared to playing in D-6, i mean i give ya props like ur top 3 teams could compete elsewhere but i mean come on you got teams like fannet-metal that our junior high teams could probably beat. So if ur gonna talk about basketball talk bout districts with real competition.

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
I'm sure that Tussey or Everett..heck, maybe even NBC and Ridge would hold their own against D-6. Especially since Tussey has made it to the play-offs pretty much every year that I was in high school and once made it to the Elite-Eight in the state. So, I don't think they would have any problem with a D-6 team. And yes, there are a few teams that aren't very good but at least they're out there playing and not running their mouths. Go to a D-6 forum if that's what you want to talk about.

Hey Streetz-1....How do you explain D5 having a better state tournament record than District 6 over the past 20-something years???

Streetz-187, quoting you from the football forum...
We beat u at Mount Union and we finished 1-9 on the season in D-6 so that tells you that if u were in D-6 u would get kicked out for being so horrible.
On Saturday, December 3, I watched McConnellsburg, a class A district 5 school, beat Mount Union in overtime at the Southern Huntingdon tip off tournament. I do not think McConnellsburg is on anyones preseason list to win our district. At best they should finish slightly above .500. What does that say about your MU powerhouse.....

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
I see that hardly any of the Somerset County Teams were metioned. I saw the score of the Conemaugh Twp.-Shanksville game tonight on the news, and saw that Shanksville has started out the season a little rough. There is alot of hype around Jeff Berkey, many people say that he is a "GREAT" player, and Im saying that he is a good player. Last year Shanksville made it to the sweet 16, by knocking off Vincentian Academy in the first round of the state playoffs. Shanksville had a solid defensive attack, and most of all they ran the fast break. I attended many of there games, and watched and being from another school I was impressed by the way that they ran things. Shanksville lost 6 seniors last year, and its going to be rough for Coach Wayne Long to fulfill the spots that they played. Jeff Berkey is good because the team that Shanksville had last year gave him many oppurtunities to score, surrounded him with good/solid/fundamental basketball players. But now this year, it will be the time to tell and see if Jeff Berkey can do it all on his own, due to not having a solid group of guys around him with lack of experience. Time to see if they rack up an experience, and make the playoffs. WestPAC is up for grabs this year! and so is D-5.

we will see how good d-6 is on dec 12th when westmont plays d-7 defending champ beaver falls.

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
While looking at Head Roadie's post I noticed something very interesting. Both districts have only one team with a winning record in the state tournament, Windber in District 5 and McCort in District 6, with identical 14-10 records. Windber has accounted for 58% of District 5's state tournament victories while McCort has accounted for 37% of District 6's victories. If you remove these two schools from the equation the success, or lack thereof, of both districts in the state tournament is virtually equal with District 5's winning percentage at .263 and District 6's winning percentage at .276.
Everything looks easy from where you're sitting!
